Nurses for the Rights of the Child, interview

One of the thrills of being in Seattle for the Symposium was meeting the women from Nurses for the Rights of the Child. These brave women from St Vincents Hospital organized themselves to stop being involved with circumcision.

Here's an interview I found online:http://nurses.cirp.org/Interview_by_Professor_Sam.html

I have seen this video. Its a few years old, though- maybe 10? They talk about why they decided to become objectors.

It's a really inspiring film and one of the nurses pulls a piece of gauze out of her pocket that contains a little foreskin that she took out of the garbage can. When you know how much suffering losing that little piece of skin can cause not only the baby but the grown man---it has a real impact.

Why is St. Vincent's such a pop hospital name? Heard from a nurse at St. Vincent's in Little Rock, Arkansas today who wants to get involved in stopping the mutilation.

Yeah. She's here holding my youngest in 2002!

Noah and Mary Conant

Another Noah and Mary Conant at the 2002 Symposium

And while I'm at it...

Here's Noah at Dr. Paul Fleiss

Noah and Frederick Hodges

Isn't this the woman who died recently with Frederick Hodges?

The woman with Frederick Hodges in the last of Nathan's photos looks like Hanny Lightfoot Klein, the author of several books on FGM and an intactivist. She is very much alive as I saw her last week at the 9th Symposium. I think you are thinking of Jeannine Parvarti Baker who died recently.
