Vaxing, what are you planning to do? - Page 2

One of the most neutral reads on the topic that I read was "What your doctor may not tell you about vaccinations" by Stephanie Cave, MD. She explains the disease and vaccine histories, offers an alternative vax schedule and recommendations on how to give the vaccine and when parents should weigh their decisions carefully (i.e. family history of adverse reactions or autoimmune disorders as in our case). This book doesn't try to sway one way or another, but leaves the decision where it ultimately lies ~ the parents.

Thimesoral is not the one I worry about, it's the aluminum and formaldehyde, both are neurotoxins that pass through the blood brain barrier.

The thing I found most interesting about my personal objection to vaccinating my children was that I had a different reason for each vaccine. For some it was simply the ingredients, like those above, for others it was thimersol, for others it was the fact that it had a low efficiency and thus not worth the risk, and for others it was the aborted fetal tissue used to create the vaccine. Overall, it was the family history of autoimmune disorders and adverse reactions that tipped the scales for me from delayed/selective vax to not vaxing at all.

i'm so struggling with this....
I did vax my two boys for some things (not MMR) but whooping cough etc . They have just bought in a mass immunisation here for meningitis B and I am struggling with this decision too.... .

My older boy got sick this winter and had a seizure and went to hospital and they were muttering about meningitis B and I was so scared and thought Oh MY GOD if my child has meningitis B and I haven't vaxed I will never ever be able to live with it.

Turned out to be a virus........... but made me think and now I feel insecure in my decisions and can't decide whether to get them vaxed for meningitis B <sigh> Although there were four cases this winter where people were fully vaxed did get it.....................

what have others done about meningitis vaxes?

I was young and had my first at 19, not knowing any better I vaxed my 4 oldest children. I just did what I though everyone else did..which is what most do, but once I started trusting myself and my instincts, my 4 youngest are not vaxed..although my oldest boy, 7, is partially vaxed. I stopped when he was a baby and well..my youngest 3 haven't ever even seen a doctor and well they've never been sick, not even a fever, cough.
