Right now he isnt in any pain 23mo and so I am not gonna get anything done for them. If/when they start to hurt then I will have the caps put on. They dont look any worse now than they did almost a year ago and he uses them to bite things with no trouble.

I did talk to a mom who has 2 children, age 8 & 5. Both had bad decay when age 2-3. The 8 year old she decided to do nothing for and by the time his 4 front teeth fell out on their own, they were down to "little brown nubs," but his permanent teeth are white and perfect. The other child was complaining of pain so they opted for the surgery. The dentist said he didn't know how bad things would be until the surgery. She got 9 teeth extracted! Scary!
Does anyone else know of someone who got a dire prognosis but decided not to do the dentistry and everything ended up turning out okay with the permanent teeth?

I decided to wait until I had real insurance to do any more work, and took him to see a real dentist (vs. a resident) when he was two. This was for his bicuspids. The dentist basically bonded them and did a few fillings and told me to leave them alone. He is now almost 7, still has his caps and his bicuspids are fine.
