Joining all HBing mamas!!

Thank goodness for this discussion group! I just decided last week to have a HB (due in 3 weeks with DD#2). We found a midwife and doula and are getting ready.

It's nice to know there are like minded people around - the only people I am telling about this are of couse dh, my mom, and my sister - no other family or close friends would understand or offer good support - only negative!

They can all find out when I send the birth announcements... hehehe

So thanks for being here!

What are some *must have items* that you are glad you had at your hb?

glad to hear it! Great decision! I had one at home and the second born in hospital (had planned for home, but he came early). Both were great births. Just planning for a homebirth puts you at an advantage no matter what happens, in my experience.

have fun getting ready! (too late for me to remember items to have around! : )

I am almost 7 months & will see a midwife for the first time next week--hoping for a waterbirth.

I have a great family dr who is cool with the midwife --says I should be fine .(but he will be back up kind of)

Welcome .

Congrats! I am sure it will prove to be a great decision.

Most of the stuff you will need you probably already have, but some will need a special trip. Hydrogen peroxide (for getting blood stains out), chux pads, towels, recieving blankets, hat for the baby or one of dad's socks works too (I have actually done this). Frozen meals, ice for sucking on and you can put some in a glove and use it as a compress after the brith . Maybe some straws or cups with straws in them. If you have a doula she will probably have lots of great labor support items like rice socks and what not. Thats the stuff I like best during labor

Welcome to the board.

What are "must haves"?

I would have to say lots of towels and easy food.
