Well, I have a consult with a homebirth Dr. next week. There is a homebirth dr. in St. Louis and I called him up and he said he would consider taking me on as a homebirth client(the only issue is that I am 2 - 2.5 hrs away). So, next week dh is bringing his list of questions and concerns and the dr. will decide for sure if it is too far. Dh alternately acts happy and worried, I hope the dr is able to ease his mind. I think the fact that he is a official dr will ease his mind some (as illogical as that may be) and perhaps there will be a slim chance the insurance will pay some..... since it will actually be a "legal" birth. I told him I would be more than happy to drive to him for all the prenatals, if we both decide that we feel comfortable with the arrangement.
So, can I be nervous and excited? In my search this is the closest I have come to anybody, heck it is the first person I have talked to that actually delivered babies. I really am already crazy about the increased attention, the dr himself answered the phone and was not the least bit pretentious. Plus, the got me in next week, at my ob it was 5 weeks for them to get me in and I bet I won't have to wait 3 hrs to see him either. So, I am really hoping that we click and dh feels at ease with him! I am really feeling positive that he is going to take me on, especially since he suggested we come up for a consult.
