Checking out of hospital early? - Page 2

I was transfered to a hospital with #1... had my baby 11 hours later... left 2 hours after he was born... the OB knew I didn't want to be there and said that as long as I could walk out, I was allowed to leave....

I did. I gave birth in the morning, told them I wanted to check out ASAP and they said they would send a doctor to examine and discharge us. Well, they kept giving me the runaround and I finally checked us out AMA in the late afternoon. If I were to ever give birth in a hospital again(heaven forbid), I would just check out AMA immediately.
Go for the homebirth!!!

With dd1, I checked out just shy of 12 hours after the birth. Both my OB and ped were aware of my desire not to stay and as we were both fine we were both discharged. Even though I had a good hospital birth that time, I wanted nothing to do with it the next time so went for the homebirth. My dh had bought into the hospital = safe stuff, too. It took a lot of discussion, some nice, some not so nice, but finally he saw how important it was to me and agreed.
