I had an HSG in early Aug and it was discovered that I have tons of scar tissue on my right ovary and fallopian tube. Doc wants to laser the scar tissue off and it currently scheduled for 2 weeks from now. Anyone else experience this? What should I expect?

The doctor used laser to remove some of my endometriosis last week, is that similar to what you're talking about? (I had a laparoscopy.) If it is similar, I'd be glad to answer any questions.

Thank you for responding Nicole. I'm just now discovering that what I'm headed for is a laparoscopy. I have scar tissue of the rght fallopian tube and ovary, from DD's birth. Did you have to stay over-night at the hospital? My OB was concerned that I might, considering how painful the HSG was. Did you have general or local anesthia(sp?)? Was there any recovery from it? TIA.

Oh-well I can tell you all about laparoscopy, I just had one last week! Mine was done at an outpatient surgery center and I loved having it there. I was in a leather recliner up until I walked into the surgery room. Afterwards, I was back in a recliner once I came to. My husband was with me up until the minute I went into surgery and they brought him in as soon as I was mostly awake after the surgery.
I had general anesthesia, which I was nervous about, even though I've been under three times before. (Twice when I was a child and once for my wisdom teeth.) It was cake-they put an oxygen mask on me and put the meds through my IV and I bet I was out in a minute, too. The nurse and I were talking about how cold the room was and poof! I didn't even finish the conversation. Waking up, I was a little out of character, demanding a margarita from the nurse. When she said no, I asked for a strawberry daquri. (Sp?) We eventually settled on a virgin one, I guess. Soon afterwards, my thinking was foggy, but normal. Luckily, my husband was there to remember all the important stuff.
The recovery from the anesthesia was fine for me. I had moderate belly pain for a few days, but not unbearable. I ate like a horse the minute we got home, ignoring all "eat Jello and broth" instructions. I had a hard time having bowel movements for about five days afterwards, which was wierd. I had never heard of that from anyone. (Maybe it's because I ignored the Jello and broth part. LOL) The worst part was the shoulder pain from the gas they used to pump up my stomach. Seriously, had I not had that, I would have been fine. It took almost a week to go away. Someone told me pop would help-IT DIDN'T, but massages from my husband (he's the best) and a heating pad helped when I felt like crying because of it. It was frustrating more than anything.
The surgery was on a Friday, I went back to work Tuesday (Monday being Labor Day). I probably should have waited until Wednesday or Thursday to go to work, though. The shoulder pain made it hard to do my job 100%. With that said, I also went to church the day after the surgery. I took it easy all weekend and slept a lot of it. The doctor gave me Lortab for pain, but I didn't take it much. Lortab did NOT help the shoulder pain and the belly pain was manageable for me. I don't like taking prescription meds if I can avoid it, so it was more a personal thing.
If you have any other questions, let me know. It's still fresh in my mind!

I had no idea you could diagnose having scar tissue from an HSG!
:
Good luck on your lap - I had a similar experience as the previous poster; it wasn't too bad at all!
