So, my fil (who really isn't hardly involved in the kiddos lives at all) made a very beautiful wooden cradle for Louis. It's gorgeous really. He made the entire thing and stained it. It must have cost him a fortune to ship the thing up here. The problem is that it will never get used. He's been working on it for months, and I know he is really excited for us to get it. The thing is though that he KNOWS we co-sleep - none of our kids has ever slept in a crib or cradle or bassinet or playpen or anything except with us. Even for naps they've never used any of those things. So, he made the cradle that will be with us forever now - we going to have to store it and move it until I finally unload it onto my unsuspecting future DIL!!!
Ugh! I know he put a lot of work into it, and I am trying so hard to be appreciative! I think it's great that he made something so personal for his grandson. I'm just feeling a bit frustrated - I just spent the last few weeks cleaning out the basement and organizing and purging, and now I have something I'm going to have to keep for the next 25-30 years. I sound really ungrateful don't I?
