Jennifer - Glad to hear your dad is doing OK. I hope your being late turns out however you would like it to be.

I am actually late right now, too (about 11+ days depending how I count since I think I ovulated late this month) but I had negative blood and urine tests last week. We were TTC so I'm a bit perplexed as to why I'd be late since I've never been this late and I've never missed a period before except when I was pg. with DD. But the docs say I am not.

What's making me frustrated the most is that I keep having weird symptoms that could be pg. signs or ??? So I am about 95% sure I'm not but part of me still wonders if maybe I am and the tests were just wrong?

Just curious here - anyone ever have really regular periods then all of a sudden miss one and NOT be pregnant? Argh! I hate not knowing what's going on with my own body!

In other news, I babysat my friend's almost 2 yr old son today. Things went pretty well, although DD was grouchy because she had bad dreams last night was kind of tired. She was ready for him to leave 1/2 hour before his mom came to get him.

Then DD and I went to the library for the first preschooler story time of the fall. DD had a great time. She's so outgoing. I'm always enthralled watching her because DH and I are both very introverted IRL.

Obviously, I tend to online.

I have had two pregnancies that began like this. It totally threw my dates off. First I had regular periods, every 30 days, then I missed my period, and I knew I was pg, but got a BFN. THEN two weeks later I actually got pg!

So, I missed my period and I was NOT pg, but got pg before I got my period.

Like I said, it happened with two of my babies. I have never missed and then just got it again later though.

Well, my big accomplishment today was I solved yet another one of my toddler DD's "riddles". She is talking SOOO much, but not a lot of sentences yet. Most of the time she'll still tell us single words & we can more or less figure out what she's talking about you know? Well, last Thursday we were on our way to pick up DH from work & DD went into this big story about "bear" and "home" and "kiss" and "go". I honestly had NO clue what she was talking about??

Well, today it became clear. My step-sister nannies for a 3 yo boy & a 9 mo girl around the corner from our home. Last Thursday morning we went over there for a playdate for the first time. My sis called again this morning to set up another playdate for tomorrow & after I told DD what we'd be doing tomorrow she started said "Bear...home...go NOW, Mommy! Stroller!" Suddenly the light dawned & I realized that she was calling the 3 yo boy "bear" because his name is Teddy! And he did in fact give her a big hug and kiss when we left last Thursday. Obviously it made an impression. :

Oy! She's also apparently named his little sister Chloe "baby".

Aaaaaw! That is so cute!!:

All in all, it's been a good day here. I've been enjoying watching DD really start to grow into imaginative play lately so that's been fun. Of course, now she wants to be play "kitties" all the time so I get to hear "meow" and "mommy kitty - I want milkies" all the time. It's been driving me nuts actually because I'm more of a dog person, but today I got my sense of humor back and it was cute and funny again.

Last night was kind of funny too actually. DD was using a laundry basket as a "litter box" while playing kitties. Thankfully, she didn't really use her "litter box." She just started using the toilet last week so I was a little bit concerned for a moment.

Hmm....that reminds me. I'd better go do some more .

Pediatrician appointment this morning with a new doc. I am getting ready to have to defend my partial vax stance.......again. I get so tired of doing that. :

Anyway, then we'll go to Gma's and Pig Pa's for thwe afternoon. They have been gone all week so the kids, and I, have been missing them.

Enjoying some of the last warm days in these parts. We're having a beautiful early fall here:

Rainy and yucky here today. Good luck at the ped's today, Vermont! Maybe it won't be as bad as you think?

DD is demanding eggs. Be back soon.

We just opened the windows to air out our house! This has been the first day that it's been cool enough to do that. I love fesh air, and am thrilled to feel those cool breezes flowing through the windows. I know we've all heard that the recirculated air inside our homes is so much more toxic than the outside air in most areas, and it's so true. YAY for fresh air inside

Hi all! I haven't posted at the water cooler before but would love to sneak in here if that's ok... move over Starflower and let me in... is this water filtered?

This morning we are off for a playdate at a local indoor play place, really looking forward to it! The kids love it there and I will get a chance to talk with a friend in person. Woohoo!

Later this afternoon we are going to go letterboxing I think - it's suddenly turned cold here and I'm looking forward to getting out in some of that chilly fresh air! I love fall!

I should probably do some housework too but... don't wanna...

Kitty, what's Letterboxing???
Oh Letterboxing is this cool thing where people hide a box somewhere and other people follow clues to find the box. In the box is a rubber stamp and a little pad for recording other people's stamps. You find the box and then use the stamp in the box to mark your own notepad, and use your own stamp that you bring with you to mark the notepad that is in the box. Check out letterboxing.org if you are so inclined - they have a ton of info on it!

(ETA it's kind of like geocaching but the low tech version)

May I come in as well?

I've never been to the water cooler either.

TOday was a pretty average, okay kind of day- very Tuesday..... But then tonight, whilst cooking tea & filling out a consent form form for DD's field trip next week, I got a call from the dressmaker (who is making my DD's dress for my SIL's wedding later this month). She's not ready for tomorrow's fitting. Can we reschedule the appointment? Oh, & by the way, when do you need the dress by?

:

Oh my god. We need the dress, plus DS's matching vest, by 24/9... at the very latest.

The kids & I are flying to New South Wales on the 25th, DH follows on the 27th.

I am so worried the kids' wedding clothes won't be ready.

It's rainy and cool here.
I love waking up to find the kitchen still clean from the night before (if you don't count the floor...) Makes my day better.
OK. So I am not pregnant. Oh, well. Maybe next time.

DD and DH are going to the Y for swimming lessons pretty soon, then we have a play date at our house with some friends from MDC when they get back.

DH works from home most T & Th's so it's nice to have him around. Of course, with my "time off" today, I will probably be working. We choose to only have one car so I'll be home. I need to make some bread. We're on a gluten-free and dairy-free diet so bread and any convenience foods are a real pain.

I tried some GF millet bread from the freezer section of PCC this week. Bleah. DD likes it if we warm it up and put vegan marg. on it, but I think it's pretty awful. We got a bit behind on house cleaning here : so I haven't had much chance to make homemade bread and stuff lately.

It's sunny here today. I like the but I don't like hot weather. My favorite season is autumn. Generally fall in our area isn't very exciting leaf-wise, but it's still my favorite season. I also enjoy snow, but we don't get much of that here either.

Hey, can I join in? I've never posted, but I like the coziness of here. I'll do a mini intro, since I'm not sure how many people either a) recognize my user name, and b) actually know anything about me.

Like in my sig, I'm a 24 yr old FTM to a 7 mo dd, and I'm married to dh who's 26. Dh works as an electrician in a theatre, and I'm a SAHM, obviously. I had a really hard time adjusting as a SAHM mainly because of other's expectations. But I'm loving it now, and family members are seeing that we DON"T have to be on welfare for one of us to stay home (yes, MIL actually said that . We live in an apt in a city, and we try to be as sustainable as possible, which means our tiny plot of cement and grass has a garden, a clothesline, and a wood pile. I wish we had a cat, but we don't. We just have a houseplant.

Anyway, the three of us have a lil bug today- dh has it the worst, and dd and I have some sniffles. It's dd's first illness. (Though it's hardly anything, like I said.) She WOULD NOT SLEEP last night. Poor dh had to keep bouncing her (he usually doesn't have to at all, or only once a night), and I felt like I was nursing every 10 mins. I'm sure it was cause she didn't feel well. Dh has today off (woo!), and we're going to the post office, and to look for a bookshelf to hold our insane book collection. And to get groceries. And then to rest, because we all feel crappy. It's that kind of day though, dreary and damp. A good day for lighting candles and baking, if we had any baking supplies in the house.

Starflower, autumn is my fave season too, winter taking a close second. I also really like the snow, but it tends to be rather slushy here in the winter, than really snowy (though we do get good snows from time to time.) Anyway, it needs to cool off a bit more before I really feel like it's fall. But I"m looking forward to it. This time of year always makes me feel all cozy.

Hi everyone. Another newby here. I am a SAHM and just recently married. I have 2 girls DD1 is 14yrs and DD2 is 7 1/2 months. Here I thought I was done and HELLO....: I had forgotten how hard being a new mom is. I swear as soon as I get 1 thing childproofed she has figured out how to get into something else....
So far I have had to use velcro to hold down the dvd player and to hold the livingroom door open...
She is a real spitfire.
I am hoping to get some laundry done and dinner started. We'll see

Hello, it's your friendly, local smart-ass here.: I just wanted to point out that the 10th -23rd is actually just about 2 weeks, so this thread should be renamed "water-cooler talk for the fortnight of September10th-23rd."

OK, I'll leave before the pitchforks come out.
Wow, this thread is really taking off! Off course we SAHMs have nothing else to do but sit at the computer all day (in between watching our fave soaps, of course!)

I used to sew for weddings--and sometimes I didn't get really going on it until the last minute! I was never late for anything, I guess I just work best under pressure. If I had an appointment set up for a fitting, I would have been prepared, though.

We have had FREEZING weather here--usually fall is very nice, not too hot, but not cold. We've had several severe frosts already. I feels like October or November. Last winter came late but we ended up with record amounts of snow. It was so deep that dd couldn't even play in it. It was at least up to my waist.

Welcome to the water cooler, Tawnykat, Persephone, aussiemum, HelloKitty!
