I am still trying to balance life with a baby. Looks like things will be even more interesting now
DD's are playing together at the moment. DD2 is trying to stand on her own. She is so sweet.
: Congrats!!!!!

I dream of having another baby. But I know the time is not right for us, maybe in awhile.

I really got to get off my butt and get ready to go ~sigh~

TAWNYKAT!!!!!!!!: :

That is so awesome!!!!!

OK, still trying to get the early morning fog out of my eyes. Just abandoned dh with the kids to drink my coffee in peace. Poor dude needs to get to work but I need 1/2 hour to put my mommy face on. Besides, I have been up with them since 5:30am.

5:30 am! Crikey, you've got early risers! But of course, they are babies still. DS didn't 'sleep through' until he was at least 2. And even then, until he was about 5, I had to comfort him at least once per night.

It has been a slow process, but eventually we have managed to get the kids to respect that mum & dad reeeeally don't like being woken up before the clock-radio alarm goes off- usually about 7:15. We set it loud enough that the sound goes thru the house.

True, they are almost 6 & 8 now, so they are much better equiped to respect personal requests... but the flip side is that if they come to us before the alarm, we tend to snap awake because it means that something is wrong ie: a child needs attention, someone is hurt, etc...

I dunno. Every fam is different. I am so horrid without sleep, tho, my kids even know it. My mum was/is the same way.

Hmmm..... maybe that's one for the psychoanalysis board....

And Tawneycat- :

Isn't that lovely! I was just holding a friend's new born bub today.... they are soooo sweet.... her little fella is just beautiful.....

............

Just scanning back thru before I submit, wow kitty, you've got teenagers... hats off to you mama- a dear friend of mine is the proud mama of an almost 16 year old girl... I've known her since she was ten, & she is a lovely, sweet, bright girl, but my has she been a.... challenge to her mama at times.

Congrats on the baby!!

I soooooo want another baby (which is amazing, because for quite a while I was gone off the whole idea!) but have to wait until I get my anemia sorted out! So I'm all about the iron now - if it doesn't give me iron, or help me absorb iron, I don't eat it!

Whoops, intro - I'm Charmaine, 31, SAHM to Alex, 2.5, dh is, well I'm annoyed with him at the moment but really I do like him a bit, heh, just moved 'home' this winter after 8 years in England and am loving it, though miss the UK. I worked part-time freelancing from home, mostly evenings and weekends, for about a year after Alex was 6 months but gaveit up officially when we moved here. I miss it though. I'm getting used to this SAHMing gig - it's quite an adjustment!

OK, so I'll stop babbling now. I just posted a whiny thread about wanting to play hookie - should have just whined about it here I guess - don't want to make this a negative board!

DS is having a late breakfast - two weetabix, a piece of toast, some applesauce and now an apple. Must be having a growth spurt!

Nice chatting with you all! This thread is a great idea!

Yes, love the water cooler!!

To into myself, I am Amy age 34 turning 35 in Dec. I am married to my dh 10 years this spring. We have two princesses- Elizabeth and Margaret
or as we say- Liz and Maggie. I have been a SAHM or domestic diva/goddess for almost 5 years now.

MAggie is 7 mos old but was born 24 weeks into my pregncy last Feb so corrected she is 3 1/2 mos old. Liz is 4 years old and is back in preK this week and Mommy and Liz are estatic! She loves school and all her friends so its great. She attends the coop in our town. We love it because we can be hands on in the class and in the school.

Glad the water cooler can be of assistance. There was a post a few weeks ago about this forum turning negative so I thought this might spiff things up and never realized how spiffy it could be!

Well, my two bosses are calling for me to get back to work!

**** am re-thinking this reply. Apologies to all, carry on please*****

I love this thread!

my intro~
Lets see.... I'm Sandy, I'm 31. Lily is 4 and very bright and very sensitive, Devon is 22 months very attached and very mischievious(sp). Dh is a designer/engineer and also a paid on call firefighter. I did a variety of jobs before I became a SAHM. I trained horses, waited tables, cared for adults with autism, and worked in an infant daycare.

Ahhh, assiemum, now I'm curious!! or maybe I'm just nosy

Tawny - Congrats!!!

I dream of a 3rd but doubt s/he will actually come from my body. Crossing my fingers dh finds adoption in his heart sometime in the next 5 years.

Glad to hear about the new babies coming!

We are done. I had some issues in my first prgncy w DD1 and so we waited to try for DD2. Then with the roller coaster ride of the nicu, we are done. ITs way too much stress for us and then it would affect our two girls so thats all folks! OTH, we are so blessed with our girls and DH loves living w/ 3 women who totally adore him. I wonder though if he will still feel that way in about 10 years : He had 5 brothers so I dont think he knows about pmsing times 3. . His 3 sisters were all older by the time he came around (he is #8 of 9 children).

I think like all things the sahm thing is an adjustment. I really believe its not for everyone but it is something if you want for your family, is attainable. We are at a point now where I need to be home more than a want to be home. Before it was entirely want, now its want and need.

Tawnykat - ! I know with the move coming it's going to be a bit overwhelming at first, but once you're all settled into your new place, you can concentrate on baby stuff! We're waiting to ttc a third, so I hope you don't mind if I live vicariously through you for the next 9 months or so

Aussiemum - Say It, Say It, Get It Out - we're all curious now

A rainy day in the southeast today - I love the rain, though. Wish I could stay in and curl up with a book, but I must venture out to the store before picking up the kids from preschool. My friend, who was a SAHM, just took a part time job that has turned in way more than she thought it would be. She had an early meeting today, so her DH dropped her kids at my house so I could take them to preschool (he goes in to work early) while my DH took my kids to preschool. Kind of a co-op carpool. Honestly, I think I could handle another baby better than a job at this point!

Hey Aussie mom! I can't believe you are self-censoring here of all places This is the water-cooler, which means you have free license to blurt out any inane thing that comes to mind. I am, obviously, proof of that:

By the way, where are you in Oz? My brother and his wife live in Adelaide and have for about 8 years. I miss them terribly: .
Oh crap, now I've forgotten what I said in my last post- which I wanted to think about.... oops! Jeesh, my memory is crap & I've not even got pregnancy to blame....

Anywho, I must go to work tomorrow & teach the kids botany- kids being my uni students (all 48 of them, bless 'em). Which means that I have to go to bed. Nite all.......
Oh and by the way, Aussie-mom, we LOOOOOOVE the Waifs in this house DH and I sang one of their songs at some friends' wedding and the kids totally love them:
QUickly, quickly, I swear I am going to bed....

I live in North Queensland. It's a beautiful place, except for in summer.

The bull manta rays aren't giving us a whole lot of good publicity either, right now.....

I love that. I should remember that.
Tawny, congrats!
I got my AF today.
It's a good thing but there's always that twinge there... and then the kids wake up. :

Aussie, I laughed when I saw your post. We had two kittens "gifted" to us the weekend Steve Irwin died. I've been calling the boy, "Irwin" but last night when I tried to yell, "Crikey Irwin!" we all decided to rename him to just plain old, "Crikey."
While were on the subject of kittens: :

My mom has these 2 new adorable red and white barn kittens that she named Thelma and Louise. Well anyway, the vet was over and was giving them a shot and checking them out and she started laughing. She told us we would have to rename them......

wait for it......

Thelma and Louis

Guess whoever told mom they were both girls didn't really check and mom didn't either. So now she has Thelma and Louis, which of course, makes no sense but is definately funnier.

tawnykat, I was glazing over last night as I read this thread, bouncing a baby to sleep, but now I recognize that that was a pg announcement! Congrats! yep, Jan 21st is a GREAT day! Dh's birthday is Feb 21st, so he liked it too. but I can't imagine being pg again right now! : that was DEFINITELY not me who is expecting (though I would like to, the timing isn't right for us) However, we do have one other tiny thing in common. If you're IRL name is Kat, then we have the same name (or at least nickname).

Dh is home with us again today (yay! ) because he is sick (boo! ) But he's not too sick to help out with the baby, and I enjoy his company, even if he is all moany and a weenie about being sick. Today, I got two books in the mail off my wish list! And I didn't even buy them! It looks like my MIL got them for me. She asked months ago what to get for my bday, and wrote down this list I had, and then I didn't get anything from her for my bday, and I thought it was weird she would go to the trouble of asking, and then not get anything. But I guess she just forgot. However, there was no apology or anything, so I don't know. She's weird. But I have two new books, so I don't care.

April, you should tell her to rename the boy Luis.

Thelma and Louis!!! :

Our poor little girl catlet still needs a name. It's just not coming so obviously with her.

Our two cats are called Po and Tinky Winky. Yes, after the Teletubbies. No, I didn't name them - hubbie did. And they predate ds, so dh can't even blame him for it!

Ds is currently walking around the house with a little kangeroo in a makeshift sling, going 'aaaaaaw, little baby, aaaaaaaw' and I'm pretty much going

Wow! This thread has really taken off. Great idea Amys1st!

My intro -- I'm 30, a SAHM, and am going to start a couple on-line classes in November. Trying to get a feel for if I want to work on my Master's, get my CBE/doula cert, or just say heck with it all & abandon myself to SAHM'ing... DH is 27. He currently has a PT professional job (computers) supporting us & is going to school FT finishing his BS in Computer Science. He's also working as a TA this semester & taking a grad level writing class. The poor guy is BUSY! : We're celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary next week. Next week is also the 10th anniversary of when we started dating. DD1 will be 2 on the 23rd. DD2 is due in January. The 19th actually, but with all this talk about the 21st I'm starting to hope I go over a few days....

Yesterday was crazy busy...

Started off with driving DH into work (only 1 car), then going for yet another playdate with the infamous Bear & Baby. Then around 11 we headed over to my Mom's house since she had the day off. Stayed there until 2, when I had to go pick-up DH from work & bring him to school for a 3p class. Killed the 1 hr 15 min DH was in class getting gas, going to the park & taking DD for a drive by our little tiny municipal airport because she's fascinated with planes at them moment... Everytime we hear a plane overhead she starts shouting "Plane, plane!" and we have to snatch her up & run outside onto our deck to try to see the plane. It's cute, but after the 4th time in one day....

On the plus side she slept like a log last night. We ended up putting her down at 6 because she never took a nap. She slept until 3a, when she came in with us, and then didn't get up until 7! 13 hours stright...I'm just floored...but not *too* suprised given how busy yesterday was.

Today it's raining so I've just been unpacking boxes from storage & folding laundry. I HATE laundry. : It's by far my most despised chore. Mentioning which, I better go fold some more...sigh...this is what I get for digging all DD's baby clothes out of storage in the garage....

Holly

PS: Tawnycat -- congrats!
