Immunization schedule question...

I have been on the fence about which vaccines (if any) I want my son to get. So far, he's had HepB, DTaP, and Hib. We declined IPV and PCV. The more research I do, the better, but I feel like I'm really being rushed. Now, I took a good look at the schedule and noticed there are certain age ranges they reccomend the shots at, but since, other than HepB, there aren't any before 6 months, why does the ped want to still do them now?

Here's a copy of the schedule. http://www.cispimmunize.org/IZSchedule_2006.pdf

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking.... are you saying your dr. is pushing MMR and chickenpox now? (those are the ones given after a year....) ALSO different states have different schedules, different drs. have different schedules, AND school requirements may not match any of them.

With the exception of the Hep B birth dose (if given at that time), almost all the vaccines begin at 2 months of age -- Hep B, IPV, Hib, PCV, DTaP and soon rotavirus.

I think you may be looking at the yellow sections and think that's the age the first dose is given, when the yellow sections mean that particular booster dose is given in that particular age range.

Do not let the doctor rush you or bully you. Take all the time you need to make a decision. If you decide to proceed, you can always catch up later. No one has the right to pressure you into doing something that you are not comfortable with.
