purchasing sauerkraut

I believe some people have posted about a company in California that sells raw sauerkraut. Then they had to pasteurize it for shipping purposes. Does anyone know if there is still raw sauerkraut available online somewhere? TIA

I don't know about online but my Amish farmer sells it raw in qt jars for about $6.50. His wife and her friend make it. They are very NT friendly. He is in PA.
Are you anywhere near PA? Could I ship it to you if not?

Pinky, where are you in PA?

Gale, I get mine from a local farm, too - Wills Valley Farm here in PA. It's great - I love their raw kimchi! They do ship, you can order directly from their website. It looks like their online store is not up to speed at the moment, but I see that the one product that is available right now is the sauerkraut. If you'd like anything else, I could pick some up at our local hfs and ship it to you

Thanks Suzy. I'm in California and actually I make my own, but wanted to recommend it as an option to a family member.

At the store where I work, we carry two brands of lacto-fermented veggies. Rejuvenative Foods, which is from CA, and Wellspring Farm, which is from VT. Rejuvenative is available nationwide so I'm positive it would be at HFS' throughout CA.

I'm actually in Maryland but through the wonders of a co-op I get raw dairy and grass fed beef, along with some homemade things, from a small farm in Kinzers, near Lancaster. It's wonderful! It's called Rainbow Acres.

Bubbies sauerkraut in glass jars isn't raw (I think this is the company you were thinking of that "had to pasteurize for shipping"?) BUT they also sell raw sauerkraut in big plastic tubs (for food coops, etc... our local store sells it in bulk out of the tub and we just bring our jars to fill)

Thanks guys. I looked up Bubbies and Rejuvenative Foods in our co-op catalogue and it's amazing what you can find out there and it's also amazing how much you can save with a head of cabbage, some salt, and a good knife. I haven't fermented in a while. I need to get on it.
