valium for transfer?

Does everyone take a valium at the transfer? For my first two I didn't, and for the last one ( different clinic) it was suggested so I did. I felt "out of it" for 3 days! I mentioned this to my nurse at the retrieval and she said it shouldn't affect your mind or general energy level. I'm hesitant to take it tomorrow because Monday I must care for my son alone. No days of bedrest possible here. Thanks for any imput.

I didn't, and didn't miss it. IMO, transfer wasn't really any different feeling than an IUI or a pap smear, and I don't take a valium for either of those.

Thanks for the reply. My doc said it was to relax the muscles/lining of the uterus, to help with implantation. Anybody?

I personally would not even dream of doing a transfer without valium. It not only chills you out (the whole process is stressful enough at the best of times) but also makes your uterus relax and contract less, which can only help sway things further in your favour. Even if the residue of the valium leaves you out of it for a few days after transfer, is that really a bad thing? A relaxed patient makes transfer go much more smoothly.

My facility requires it. I'm kinda glad cause it knocks me out after and that forces me to slow down for a bit and leave the child care to my partner for the better part of the day.

My place requires it too because it relaxes the uterus and allows for better implantation and doesn't allow the uterus to contract and push embies out. It also made me take it easy for a couple of hours after but I felt fine the next day.

with my transfer I didn't have any valium offered.. I wouldn't have taken it anyway... not being tilted on that table with a full bladder... no thanks.. I would have fallen asleep and wett my pants lol
