Exemption from Daycare/School Immunization Requirements

Just a reminder that if any selective/delayed vaxers need help finding out how to get a religious or philosophical exemption from immunization requirements, please post on this board or the main forum.

If your state does not offer a philosophical/personal exemption, you can obtain a religious exemption regardless of whether you hold a religious belief.

No one has ever been arrested and/or prosecuted for submitting a religious exemption if it was later determined that no religious belief is actually held in states where religious exemptions are scrutinized. Even in those states which allow for "verification," exemptions are easy to get as long as the language in your exemption letter is appropriate. In states where religious exemption laws do not allow for "verification," your religious exemption will not be challenged.

Additionally, you can submit a religious or philosophical exemption even if the school is aware of your child's prior vaccination history. Most states have preprinted exemption forms, so you don't even have to write a letter.

Many selective/delayed vaxers in and out of this community use religious and personal exemptions in order to vaccinate according to their own schedule while sending their children to daycare and school.

I can provide you with appropriate language in order to obtain an exemption in these states.

Click on the map to view your state exemption laws: http://909shot.com/state-site/state-exemptions.htm

Most states do have preprinted exemption forms and/or have specific instructions on how to obtain an exemption. Not all state department of health websites contain information on preprinted exemption forms and/or give instructions, so that's why you may want to do a search here, create a thread on the forum asking for assistance or PM me.

Every state is different. For example

In Florida, a religious exemption form can only be obtained from the health department, but in North Carolina the parent has to submit their own letter. In Texas, the form needs to be requested in writing from the department of health and then it's immediately mailed out to you, but in New Mexico the form gets filled out by the parent and then it's sent to the department of health for approval.

Some states are notoriously more difficult than others. For example, some Florida departments of health have been known to scaremonger and/or ask invasive questions in order to potentially invalidate an exemption (we have some very interesting experiences on the vax forum for Florida) . . . and then you have states like California, one of the most liberal in terms of ease.

If in doubt, please ask.

Thanks Long Island

I wish I had asked bbefore Fri. I live on LI, too, and just submitted a religious exemption on Friday. I'm really nervous. I can't afford a laywer for the long haul.
Just in case- what is the correct wording to use?

I wrote that it was my belief that God created our bodies perfectly. Illness and recovery are what God intented. And I was completely ignorant when I vaxed my kids previously. I tried to get medically exempt first, but I wrote that at the time I wasn't aware of my rights and I didn't know a person could be exempt without belonging to a certain religion. All the truth!

I hope I didn't screw up

Anyone know of any kids with the chicken pox? I live on Long Island, but am willing to travel!

Bumping means posting to the thread so it moved up to the top of the forum list.

The link to the state exemption laws is in the Resources sticky, just FYI...

I just posted this question on another thread, too. sorry about that..

Is a dr under any legal obligation to report "incomplete" vax? He knows that dd is in school and selectively vaxed. Any ideas?

If you mean to the school, absolutely not. He cannot give the school that information. However, I strongly suggest you remove your child's name from your state immunization registry (which can be accessed by a school) even though registry's are not supposed to be used in a punitive manner.
