I'm just trying to get a handle on what is "average".

How many Kindergarten students per adult(teacher, assistant, helper, etc) are in your child's classroom? Are they in public or private school?

Thanks

One teacher, under 20 (17?), public school.

I put other. In my daughter's class, there are 35 students, 2 teachers, and an aide. But it's not all kindergarten since it's Montessori - it's ages 3-6. They would actually prefer more students in the class (and I agree), but it's hard with the rules and space and all.

ETA: This is a mix - preschool is private and K-6th is charter.

I don't have a child in k-garten this year, but our school uses 2 teachers per 14-16 children.

ETA-this is public school, rural location.

My dd went to a Montessori school for K. Like a pp said it was a group of 3-5 year olds. There were 26 kids in the class, one teacher, and one assistant teacher.

My dd is now in 1st grade, but she had 28 kids in her class, 1 teacher, no aides. That was the largest class, her teacher was experienced (8 years) and she learned a lot. The other k classes had around 25.

Ds just started 1/2 day K at a small private school. 13:1, plus an aide, but she's not there the entire time. So far this has worked out so well for him as he needs a little extra attention.

My dd goes to a public charter school. There are 15 children in her class and one teacher.

For their first grade class there are also 15 students per class, and one teacher aide that is shared between two classes. The number rises to up to 20 children per class for the later grades.

I also put other. Ds' kindy class was about 17/18 students, one main teacher.

I put other. DD is in private school. there are 4 students and one teacher. They would ideally have 8 students, but for some reason it is a very small class this year. They don't go higher than 8, because when they get to 1st grade it is a mixed class of 1st - 3rd grade.

My DS is in 1st grade in a private school, but the kindergarten class has 18 students and a teacher and an assistant. I belived there is also a parent volunteer. He went to kindergarten at a public school and there were 22 children a teacher, assistant plus a aide for one child who also "helped" out generally. There was always a parent volunteer every day too.

My children go to public school.

20 children - 3 adults in the morning & 2 in the afternoon. (This year I hear the staffing is the same but there are only 16 or 17 kids in the class )

The afternoon was when they did lots other stuff like recess, free play, specials with other teachers (music, art, library, gym) so they didn't keep the extra pt aide.

My son's class has 30 children. There are 2 teachers and 1 teaching assistant and, until the end of October, 1 student teacher.

I voted 20-25 2 teachers, public.

Ds goes to a public charter school, there are currently 20 students in his class, they cap the class at 21 (and since it's a charter they won't go above that), his class is a mixed k-1.

Other, 14:1, public school.

There are frequently extra adults in the classroom.

1 Teacher for 20-25 students in each of the 3 K classes in the public school here. The teacher does have 2 aids that come in morning and evening but they are not there all the time, and some days not at all.

25 kids, 1 teacher. No aids, no parent volunteers. I am very seriously thinking about quitting my part time job so I can spend at least 1 afternoon every week as a helper!

I didn't know how to vote for our situation

my dd is in public K
There are 16 kids in her class and a full time teacher, and full time teachers assistant.

I was thrilled! We live in a highly populated area, but the schools are just incredible. I honestly couldn't ask for more.

I voted Other because its private school and was 14 students with one lead and one associate teacher.

Thanks for all the input

When I found out that my son's Kindergarten class of 21 would only have a teacher's aid in the mornings I was very concerned. I just don't see how one adult can tend to 21 5 year olds, you know? Judging by my poll, I guess it isn't that unusual.
He had one year of preschool and part of why we picked the one we did is because there were three adults to 12 kids. I assumed K would have two adults. I hope this works out but I am pretty nervous...
