9 months PP and still having hip problems...

At the end of my pregnancy with ds2 I started having problems with my hips. If I sat wrong they would slip out of place. It was very painful. My midwife told me it was pretty common in closely spaced pregnancies because of the hormones.

Well...ds2 is 9mos old and I'm still having problems and it seems like it's getting worse. It usually happens when I'm holding one of my sons on my hip, I take a step and it's like my hip pops out of place for a moment. I either have to hand ds over to someone or if no one's around I ease down to me knees. It goes back in place, but it's happening more and more, every day now.

I went for a long brisk walk today and halfway through I had to slow way down and start taking baby steps because it felt like my hips were going to fall apart! It's the oddest sensation and it hurts. :

Anyone else have this problem? What did you do to fix it? I thought it would slowly get better as preggo hormones faded away, but it's concerning me because it's happening more frequently.

For the time being we don't have the money for me to go to a chiropractor. Which I think is what I need right? I've never been to a chiro. Is there anything I can do in the meantime? Like a particular excercise or something?

I don't even know the name of this condition (surely it has a name!) or I would google it.

TIA

Well,... my suggestion was going to be to go see a Chiropractor. I have had great results with chiro. in my pregs and post partums. Also you could find some floor exercises to specifically strengthen the leg and core (abs and butt).
The relaxin hormone from pregnancy stays in a nursing mums system for a long time. This coupled with the increasing weight of baby (and you probably thinking you are all healed up so you are doing and lifting more) is causing stress on that joint.
Alternately if you have health insurance perhaps see your primary care doctor for a refferal to a podiatrist . There may be something that changed as a result of pregnancy in how you walk which is contributing to this problem, which could be helped by orthotics.
Hope at least part of this helps.
