Hmmm, perhaps we just define 'trust' a bit differently then, cause if you are confident in the abilities of your provider and you believe in their practices, I'd say you trust them.

And you darn well better be able to trust them if an emergency arises cause they will literally have your life and your child's life in their hands at that point.

Why on earth would anyone NOT want to be cared for by a provider they trusted in an emergency? That makes no sense.

You can educate yourself silly, but if you need a crash c-section, it's TOTALLY out of your hands once you hit that OR table. And there's no way on earth I'd want to see someone I *didn't* feel confident in, *didn't* trust their judgment, when it comes to the possibility of them cutting my gut wide open and putting it all back together again.

I think it really does come down to definition. I do NOT trust OBs or HCPs, for general purpose. I would never trust them without finding my own information first. There are too many reasons that they would say I "needed" this or that when in reality I don't. I may be confident in their abilities, but never blindly trust them. That is how I define trust. I would second guess them at every turn. Yet if it became necessary to have a surgical birth, I would be confident in their abilities to perform it safely.


With my experience, I have just learned to second guess any medical decision until I have further information from a different source.
