WWYD? Does "In GOD we trust" poster belong in 2nd grade classroom? - Page 5

*smiles* I am on the fence with this issue (not like me at all). we are christo-pagans...but i have issues with anyone making me say the pledge, sing the anthem.

I am really trying to teach my girls that we can respect other views while not agreeing with them and as long as my dd's are not made to say things they/we do not believe in, I donn't have a concern about them being witness to them. though, they are just 2 and 4 right now...so we will see.

I think if we, as a society worked to better understand other people and their culture it wouldn't be such an issue but we are not their yet.

anyone familiar with the southern poverty law center and their work?
check them out!

"In God we Trust" implies a homogeneity in modern American society and beliefs that does not exist. To me, it is the moral equivalent of having a sign up in a classroom that says, "We are White."

Well, jeez, if most of the people in the class are White, then it is mostly true. Why should it bother anyone? Why are you interfering with other people's right to be White?

Both "In God we Trust" and "We are White" signs would deny my daughter's existence in the classroom. I would definitely speak up about it.

10 posts removed from this thread due to UA violation and the resulting number of edits this would have required. Thanks to those who reported, I was sick yesterday!
