Massachusetts inactivists - HELP!

Are there any Intactivists from Massachusetts here???

I recently received a communication informing me that a sponsor for the Massachusetts state bill has been found and the bill has been placed on the docket. It needs support to advance any further. If anyone here is in sympathy with having this practice made illegal, here is your opportunity to help make a difference.

“The Massachusetts MGM Bill is currently in the hands of the House Rules Committee. If you would like to support this legislation, please email the House Rules members and ask them to release Senate Docket #2621 to the Joint Committee on the Judiciary.”

They need Massachusetts residents to urge their representatives to move and support the proposal. To the best of my knowledge, this is the furthest that MGMBill.org has ever gotten. Any help would be appreciated, and you might really make a difference, so if this is of interest to you, please visit:

http://www.mgmbill.org/mamgmbillstat...ritehouserules

for further details, and to track the proposal’s progress.

There are links there (and copied below) to help any that are able to help to reach their representatives.

Thanks, Gillian

Sorry. I copied the info from another person's post and didn't realize that it didn't make as much sense out of context.

A bill to ban MGM (male genital mutilation), based on the wording of the already existing federal prohibition of female genital mutilation, has been introduced by Matthew Hess at the federal level for the past three years. See www.MGMbill.org to read all about it.

Efforts are under way to introduce similar bills at the state level. See: http://www.mgmbill.org/statemgmbills.htm This post has to do with the effort to pass an MGM bill in Massacusetts, which is the one state that has an actual sponsor and which is actually being addressed through its legislative system. Any publicity that can be gained from this, any progress that can be made will set a precedent for other states to do the same.

Thanks to anyone who can write letters in Massachusetts. I have not posted it on the Massachusetts tribe, as I am not involved in any other Mothering.com boards. Feel free to pass it along to other possible Massachusetts supporters.

I didn't see this posted in the MA Tribal area, did I miss it? Oh, you can certainly post the info on the MA board, I don't think anyone would think it strange if you said that you normall post on CAC but wanted to let MA people know of this law. If you don't want to I can post the info later.

And, yes, I'm an intactivist in MA.
