My baby is here!

Shayla was born at 11:46pm 9-7-06.

I labored at home for 24 hours, got her all the way so that we could see her head, then labor stopped! My fabulous home birth team did everything they could to get things going again but I was really worn out and she wasn't budging, so off we went to the hospital.

They really were pushing a C-section from the moment we walked in, but we persuaded them to let us try some pushing aided by pitocin, and then with the help of a vacuum (and an episiotomy and a big 3rd degree tear out she came!

I'm really sad I couldn't have her at home, although I'm glad I got to have the home labor experience at least.

She's really healthy and was a trooper through the whole birth. We're just trying to figure out the whole breast-feeding now!

I don't know how to post pictures, but she's pretty cute. She looks nothing like me. If I hadn't seen her come out of my own body, I'd think I had someone else's baby!

Congratulations Mama!
I'm glad you were able to have a vaginal birth even though they were pushing a c-section
Hope you heal up well and breastfeeding gets established well/quickly

Congrats on your girl!!! It funny how birth isn't always how we dreamed it would be, but you did it!!!! You have your beautiful little girl!! Enjoy your baby moon!!!

My last little girl looks nothing like me either......me, dark curly hair/dark eyes/olive skin....her, blonde wavey hair, green eyes, pink skin.....she does have my mouth though...and little chin, other then that she is her dad!!!

Congrats Mama! Enjoy your babymoon! I hope you have some support for breastfeeding. Do you have a local La Leche League group you can call?
