Shayla was born at 11:46pm 9-7-06.
I labored at home for 24 hours, got her all the way so that we could see her head, then labor stopped! My fabulous home birth team did everything they could to get things going again but I was really worn out and she wasn't budging, so off we went to the hospital.
They really were pushing a C-section from the moment we walked in, but we persuaded them to let us try some pushing aided by pitocin, and then with the help of a vacuum (and an episiotomy and a big 3rd degree tear
out she came!
I'm really sad I couldn't have her at home, although I'm glad I got to have the home labor experience at least.
She's really healthy and was a trooper through the whole birth. We're just trying to figure out the whole breast-feeding now!
I don't know how to post pictures, but she's pretty cute. She looks nothing like me. If I hadn't seen her come out of my own body, I'd think I had someone else's baby!
