Anyone had one baby late, one early?

Both of my birth children arrived at 42 weeks, and I'm expecting this one to do the same, but I was wondering if anyone had both ends of the spectrum? That is a late baby and an early (non-induced) baby?

I was thinking about exactly what starts labor, and if my 42 week pgs were b/c of me, or b/c of the baby, or both.

One Early and One Late!

My first and second pregnancies were completely different. With my first pregnancy I went into pre-term labor at 32 weeks and with complete bed rest held ds in until 35 weeks, when my water finally broke. My second pregnancy I went to 41 weeks and finally broke down and took a prostaglandin to start labor.

My birth experience with ds #1 was pretty traumatic but ds #2 was amazing! I was 8 cm dilated and didn't feel anything! I kept asking my OB (who was a previous midwife) to check me ... because I just knew it couldn't be labor.

Finally she broke my water and I delivered ds #2 by myself, squatting on a birth stool. I really need to get around to posting that birth story

I have had babies at 36 wks, 40wks, 42wks, 40wks, 39wks, 40.5wks, 40.5wks & 18wks.

So I have been a little bit of everywhere.

DD came on her own at 38.5 weeks and ds came on his own at 41 weeks. So one early, one late, with no fiddling on my part.

I think it's both. My first was 40w and my second was 36w5d. Funny thing was the premature baby was bigger than the full term baby. I'm very sure about my dates. I wonder if the 2nd one came early because he had to be born before he got any bigger (had shoulder dystocia with him) or whether it was because I was continually sick during that pregnancy (lung and sinus infections that wouldn't clear up with antibiotics).

So they can surprise you! Don't assume this one will be late.

Me.

Ds was 42 weeks, and dd1 was almost 37 weeks.

I expected ds to come way early (the braxton hicks were nuts), and was very surprised when he stayed in there "extra".

With dd, I expected her to stay like he had, and was equally shocked when she decided to show up early.

I've had one two weeks "early," one two weeks "late" and one born on his "due date."

Hey, what can I say, I like variety

I had my babies at 42 weeks, 41 weeks and 39 weeks. I was seriously expecting to go over with my third because with my first two labor started with sweeping my membranes. I wasn't going to do that with the third so assumed I would go into labor at 42+ weeks. I was very surpised by my baby coming at 39 weeks.

Thanks for sharing your stories! I've been telling people all along that my "due date" is about 9 days later than it actually is, just b/c I got so tired of hearing "haven't you had that baby YET????" with my last 2 pgs. But I"ve been feeling compelled this past week to get everything in order for the baby (I'm 37.5 wks) and the thought hit me that this little one might have a different plan! Only time will tell!
