I am trying to dramatically decrease my sugar intake, but i know I will need sweet stuff in order to be successful. What do you do to treat yourself?

berries topped with whipped cream sweetened with stevia

carob-avocado mousse (have the recipe if you're interested)

full-fat cottage cheese with berries

small square of dark chocolate

pumpkin or squash pie, crustless, made with stevia and coconut milk in place of sugar and condensed/evaporated milk (yum!!)

crustless cheesecake made with stevia in place of sugar (also good as cupcakes)

These are all low-carbohydrate, and so by extension low-sugar. Not sure if you're only limiting the sugar though, in which case you could make baked goods using stevia or something similar.

So easy-here's what I can do from memory:

Cheesecake:
crust: 1.5 cups almonds, soaked
1 cup dates
blend in food processor and spread in a pie plate

filling:
3 cups raw cashews, soaked (make sure they are raw!)
1 cup honey
1 cup coconut oil
1 cup lemon juice
1 tsp of vanilla
blend and pour into filling. Chill. I freeze it for a bit and take it out a half hour before serving.

Brownies:
1 cup walnuts
1 cup dates
1/4 cup cocoa
blend in food processor until sticky. Spread into a pan and refridgerate.
I frost them with 3 T cocoa. 3T of coconut oil, a dash of salt. a t. vanilla and however much honey tastes good.

Ice cream:
2 frozen bananas a handful of frozen strawberries and a T. of water. Blend. I then throw in a handful of walnuts and blend a bit more.

Milkshake:
water and meat from a young coconut, a frozen banana, a dash of vanilla, a spoonfull of honey and a dollop of raw almond butter.

Brownies and cookies are from the www.scdiet.org The brownies are easy-I think a cup of peanut butter, a cup of honey and two eggs blended and baked in an 8x8 for like 20 minutes. Check up on that though.

Google SCD for sure. all the recipes are whole foods and the only sweetener is honey.

Pecan Pie
4 T soft butter
3 eggs
1/2 cup honey
2 cup pecans
2 T homemade french cream or yogurt
1 T vanilla
rind of one lemon

Cream butter with eggs and honey. Mix in cream, lemon rind and vanilla. Mix in pecans (I chop 1.5 cups of them, leaving the rest whole). Pour into a pie plate and bake for 35-45 minutes at 350 F (180 C).

I actually think it tastes way better when it's made with squash! Real pumpkin always tastes "off" to me, and squash tastes the way I imagine the pumpkin should taste like. Maybe I'm just loco. :

ingredients:
2 cups pumpkin or squash puree
3 eggs
1/2-3/4 cup coconut milk (judge by how watery your squash is)
stevia to equal the sweetness of 1/2 cup sugar*
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
dash of nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a greased pie pan or casserole dish. Bake at 350 for 45-55 minutes.

*If the stevia has a disagreeable taste to you, you can use 1/2 cup splenda if you're ok with artificial sweeteners. You could also use 1/4 cup of honey (it's sweeter than sugar, so you need less) or a 1/4 cup of maple syrup for a maple pumpkin pie.

Nope. I'm with you. Squash is the best.
