HELP!!!!!! My son has has awful gas pains and I have been giving him Mylicon. It seems to help some, but he is still in pain & discomfort. I've stopped eating dairy products for the last 5 days, but I am unsure if that is the culprit. He hasn't slept well for the last 24 hrs. I am desperate!!!!

Any remedies or suggestions????

I just wanted to say I'm right there with you. My 5k old was up from 2-7am last night. horrible gas pains. I too was giving the anti-gas drops, but he was miserable. he slept ok today but now is starting to not nurse well, arching his back, crying again. He likes standing and swaying so here I am standing in the kitchen surfing.

In addition to giving up dairy, try giving up all the other foods that are tough on babies and see if he improves. If you clear yourself for about 5 days and he is no better, then he might have an intestinal issue of some kind. More likely though is that you are eating something he doesn't digest well. Its dull, but stick to the blandest diet you can (no citrus, no chocolate, no wheat, no tomatoes/green pepper, no spicy food).

Good luck! Ive been there.

You taking an enzyme supplement and giving one to DS in ebm. Taking a probiotic and giving 1/2 one to DS in ebm. Baby chiro. or/and cranial saccrial therapy.

Also prescription of hyoscyamine for relaxing their bowels.

I'm doing that x10 other things... relief to us both soon!

I suggest searching the site www.kellymom.com ~ I read there that Mama's diet generally has little to do with baby's gas. Their immature digestive systems are more likely the culprit. We've tried Gripe Water, simethicone, homeopathic drops, weak fennel and chamomile tea and none of them have worked well for us. What works is massage and leg manipulation to help expel gas, lots of burping during feedings, and having Luna sleep inclined in her carseat. I love co-sleeping but Luna is miserable if she tries to sleep laying flat. If I have her in her carseat (with a fan going next to it for white noise) she'll sleep 3-5 hours at a time at night.

Good luck! My first never needed burping and this poor girl needs it alllll the time!

Well that site is only right if baby and/or Mom has no food sensitivities (known or not). We're currently searching out what mine are b/c this is baby #3 for me with these serious issues. It plain old really, really sucks when they hurt so badly and so often. It's also very hard on nursing, co-sleeping, patience and parenting. Oi!

with my daughter gripe water worked well and onions were her mail problem.

Kienan will not take gripe water, we got the hylands colic tablets but haven't tried them yet. Most nights he sleeps with his legs over mine (so in an "L" shape and that helps him on the medium bad gas nights. massage is what we have been using the bad nights, bicycling his legs ect usually every 30-60 minutes

I agree that a large majority of the time it might be from mom's diet. With both of my boys I've had to give up dairy and had a HUGE improvement withing a few days. To me it is worth the experiment!

Me and my babe are right there with you! I've given up all food culprits, and still, she suffers 2-3 times a day with terrible screams, rigid body, flailing her arms and legs and generally suffers until we hear the big one escape. Poor little babies...my midwife said it should get better around the 12 week mark when their systems mature enough to handle the basics. Until then, we're trying simethicone and gripe water to get her through.
