Bliss~ Alice Peacock

Your touch is electric
I felt it the first time you held me
The way we connected
So easily

I've tried to define it
Searched for the perfect phrase
I've tried to describe it
In a million different ways

(chorus)
It's joy, it's ecstacy, it's truth, it's destiny
And even love is not enough to tell you how you make me feel
There's only one word for this

I've got to admit it
You took my heart by surprise
Don't know how you did it
But baby, I've never felt so alive

(chorus)
It's joy, it's ecstacy, it's truth, it's destiny
And even love is not enough to tell you how you make me feel
There's only one word for this
It's bliss

Hey, you know, baby, know what the future holds
As long as you're here with me

(chorus)
It's joy, it's ecstacy, it's truth, it's destiny
And even love is not enough to tell you how you make me feel

It's faith, it's honesty, it's life, it's everything
To say "I love you"'s not enough to tell you how you make me feel

It's in your smile, in your kiss
It's the reason that I exist
There's only one word for this
It's bliss

It's bliss

It's bliss

So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
And look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell,
We know that it's probably magic...

Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm s'posed to be
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me."

Thank you. I love that song.

Ok, I'll have to go through this when I get home. I don't think I noticed it before! Of course, I was only able to get my iPod back a day or two ago, so the timing of me finding this thread is good!

Lean on Me is a song that always makes me feel good.

Another feel good happy bouncy song I recently discovered (well, DH discovered and insisted that I listen to it because he was sure I'd love it...and I do! I can't stop listening to it!) I like the lyrics because they really reflect the path that DH and I have been on (and are currently on, I guess!)

Mushaboom by Feist

Helping the kids out of their coats
Oh wait the babies haven't been born oh
Unpacking the bags and setting up
And planting lilacs and buttercups oh

But in the meantime we've got it hard
Second floor living without a yard
It may be years until the day
My dreams will match up with my pay

Old dirt road,
(mushaboom, mushaboom)
knee deep snow
(mushaboom, mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow
(mushaboom, mushaboom)
o-o-o-o-old

I got a man to stick it out
And make a home from a rented house
And we'll collect the moments one by one
I guess that's how the future's done oh

How many acres, how much light
Tucked in the woods and out of sight
Talk to the neighbours and tip my cap
On a little road barely on the map

Old dirt road,
mushaboom, mushaboom)
knee deep snow
mushaboom, mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow,
mushaboom, mushaboom)
o-o-o-o-old
(mushaboom, mushaboom)
Old dirt road rambling rose
(mushaboom, mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow
(mushaboom, mushaboom)
Well I'm Sold...

I can't believe I forgot about this one!

"Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" by Baz Luhrmann
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/gary.ha.../luhrmann.html

I love the whole *song*, but I find these parts especially empowering:

Quote:
Don’t worry about the future, or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
Quote:
Don’t waste your time on jealousy, sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind, the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
Quote:
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can, don’t be afraid of it,
or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.
Quote:
Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
And my most favorite part of all:

Quote:
Brother and sister together we'll make it through
Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you've been hurtin, but I've been waitin' to be there for you
And I'll be there just helping you out whenever I can
Everybody's free oh yeah
Everybody's free oh yeah

WHOA! I refer to this song AAAAALLLLL the time! And really, no one except my ex husband EVER knows of it. how is that? i make reference to it sooooo often...always, "that reminds me of this song...well, more a poem-sort-of thing by this guy named baz luhrman....." wow. it is a smaller world than i was starting to think it was.... and the really funny part is hwo much weight i give that advice in my own life. i don't mess with my hair as much as i used to and i try really hard to never underestimate the power and beauty of my youth (because any age is youth when compared to how old i will be in a few years, or next year...)amazing...

Well, I discovered that I have misheard some lyrics when I went searching for them. Still doesn't change the basic meaning, but rather amusing.

These are the songs that helped us over and over again as we worked to get through school.

Destination Eschaton

a snipit -

Pilgrim, take heart
There's a strange attraction giving strong acceleration
See the light, enter the light, become the light and shine
Like the star you know you are
Be ready for the storm
As confusion ushers in a time of chaos
But up out of turbulence
A better order surely will emerge
Synergy and harmony and wisdom will come, in time terrestrial

Onward ever ever on Destination Eschaton
Nowhere to hide nowhere to run
From Alpha into Omega
Onward ever ever on Destination Eschaton
nowhere to hide nowhere to run
From Alpha into Omega

and the song I thought was called "Move any Mountain" is called "ProGen"

a snipet-

I will not Fail nor Falter I shall Succeed
My Perception is Altered I do Believe
Faith is so Strong Now Nothing shall Bar my way
Firm Conviction is no Fiction This is my Day

I can Move Move Move Any Mountain
I can Move Move Move Any Mountain
I can Move Move Move Any Mountain

He worked with them, on the Graceland album.
From Wikipedia:

Quote:
In 1985, Paul Simon travelled to South Africa in the hope of collaborating with black musicians for his Graceland album. Simon asked Ladysmith Black Mambazo to work with him, and they travelled to London to record. The first recording was "Homeless", composed by Shabalala with English lyrics by Simon. The group's 1986 Ezulwini Siyakhona refers to the encounter with Paul Simon in the liner notes. Graceland was released in May of that year, and although both Joseph Shabalala and Paul Simon were accused of breaking the cultural boycott of South Africa,[11] the album was a success and introduced Ladysmith Black Mambazo into the international arena.[citation needed] This also paved the way for other African acts like Stimela and Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens to gain popularity amongst Western audiences.[12]

After Graceland, Simon acted as producer on three records for the group aimed at the American market, Shaka Zulu (1987), Journey of Dreams (1988) and Two Worlds, One Heart (1990). On the latter album, the group recorded with The Winans, Julia Fordham and George Clinton, among others.

I absolutely LOVE this thread!!!
All Star by Smashmouth is one of my favorites. I did a collage for my brother when he graduated HS because the lyrics are so inspirational to me.

Danny's Song by Kenny Loggins is also one of my favorite "good vibe" songs:

People smile and tell me I'm the lucky one, and we've just begun,
Think I'm gonna have a son.
He will be like she and me, as free as a dove, conceived in love,
Sun is gonna shine above.

Chorus:
And even though we ain't got money, I'm so in love with ya honey,
And everything will bring a chain of love.
And in the morning when I rise, you bring a tear of joy to my eyes,
And tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Seems as though a month ago I beta chi, never got high,
Oh, I was a sorry guy.
And now a smile, a face, a girl that shares my name,
Now I'm through with the game, this boy will never be the same.

Pisces, Virgo rising is a very good sign, strong and kind,
And the little boy is mine.
Now I see a family where there once was none, now we've just begun,
Yeah, we're gonna fly to the sun.

Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup, drink it up,
Love her and she'll bring you luck.
And if you find she helps your mind, buddy, take her home,
Don't you live alone, try to earn what lovers own.
--------------------------------
I also love Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson:

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Not many people in my world know the song either... Although two of my dearest friends and I heard it the first time in the sunshiney AM hours of an all-nighter , while sitting in a hot tub. It was MONTHS before I knew who sang/spoke it.

I am very careful with my knees!!!

I love Sarah McLachlan's Prayer of St Francis

Lord make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
And where there is sadness, joy.

O divine master grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love
For it is in giving that we receive-
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it's in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

I'm not even Christian really, not religious, but this one is so calming and makes me feel so positive and it's just beautiful. I actually uploaded this song, so if you'd like to hear it, pm me and I'll send you the link!

and don't it feel good!!
I'll say it again now
and don't it feel good!!

===============

Oh, and I like the power of this song, but I don't agree with all of the lyrics, I think one should always work hard to better one's self. I like the be true to yourself idea, but I always want to learn and get better.

It's called "Stay the Same" by Joe McIntyre.... and yes, it's the ONLY song I listen to by him.

Trin.

Chorus
Don't you ever wish you were someone else,
You were meant to be the way you are exactly.
Don't you ever say you don't like the way you are. When you learn to love yourself, youÂąre better off by far.
And I hope you always stay the same, cuz thereÂąs nothin' 'bout you I would change.

Verse
I think that you could be whatever you wanted to be
If you could realize, all the dreams you have inside.
Don't be afraid if you've got something to say,
Just open up your heart and let it show you the way.

Chorus

Bridge
Believe in yourself.
Reach down inside.
The love you find will set you free.
Believe in yourself, you will come alive.
Have faith in what you do.
You'll make it through.

Chorus

May I Suggest
by Susan Werner

May I suggest, may I suggest to you
May I suggest this is the best part of your life
May I suggest this time is blessed for you
This time is blessed and shining, almost burning bright...
...
There is a world that's been addressed to you
addressed to you, intended only for your eyes
A secret world, like a treasure chest to you
of private scenes and brilliant dreams that mesmerize
A lover's trusting smile, a tiny baby's hand
the million stars that fill the shining sky at night...
...
And I suggest this is the best part of your life

The rest of it is great, too, but I am trying to respect the copyright. I have this song on an album called Side of the Road by Ellis Paul and Vance Gilbert, and album I really love that has lots of other great stuff on it, too. This is one of my favorite songs on it, and seems to belong on this list.

Has anyone yet mentioned India.Arie? She rocks!

There's Hope

Back when I had a little
I thought that I needed a lot
A little was over rated,
but a lot was a little too complicated
You see-Zero didn't satisfy me
A million didn't make me happy
That's when I learned a lesson
That it's all about your perception
Hey-are you a papa or a superstar
So you act, so you feel, so you are
It ain't about the size of your car
It's about the size of the faith in your heart

And Video:

I'm not the average girl from your video
and I ain't built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be the india arie

I'm loving her music. (And that's my new favorite smilie!)

1) "Closer to Fine" by the Indigo Girls. Its about how things aren't always "black & white" in life, to trust your gut, learn from your experiences. The song is powerful and when I hear it, I get goose bumps

2) Pretty much anything from "Sound of Music", but my fave is "Climb Every Mountain":

"Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream"
