It looks better! (rant) - Page 2

Worse off is people like my mom. One of my brothers is intact, two others aren't.
My brother who is intact and is 22 is happy to be intact. My mom still says "I really wish'd I would'va circ'ed him" and my bro will pipe up "I'm happy you didnt"
she gets this pissy look on her face when I ask her why and she says something about ease of cleaning etc. Yes, I really don't think most people who circ do research. Pisses me off to no end!

I think if someone said this to me I would have to tell them what a freak they were. Um, actually it could get quite nasty.
Circumcised penises are not attractive IMO they look raw and exposed and just kind of right 'out there' kwim? But then you all know all that already hey?

"And I was also quite relieved at how "normal" the
penis does look. It doesn't look like some strange
creature from another planet or anything. (I guess you
don't know if you aren't educated about it....or just
never seen it!)"

Here it is. The core problem. You have to remember that most Americans have never seen intact penis - they think it is an enormous trunk from planet X. Something that needs to be rolled inside the pants or tie around thigh .
They have no idea how intact penis work. Words like retracting, gliding action or frenulum have no meaning for them. Heck, most of the American doctors don't know what those words mean. That is why it is vital to get education out there.

I wish I won in Lotto, I would give copy of this video to every doctor, nurse, doula, midwife, parent out there.

both boys were born with extreme amounts of foreskin, and the the hole was also way down on the underside, so it makes things difficult for urinating and possible future events. does this help?

No, I would not have the same of any surgery done on all my kids just because one of them happened to have a medical problem.

I needed foot surgery as a teenager. My parents didn't have my three sisters undergo surgery just because I did or so we'd all have large matching scars across the top of our feet.

ETA: If any of my kids had a true need for any kind of surgery, and the benefits outweighed the risks, then I would have no problem okaying the surgery. Even on my son's foreskin.

The urinary opening on the glans was off-center? Did they have hypospadious? Unless it was severe-with the urinary opening at the base of the penis-it may not have needed correction at all...and there are procedures now to fix hypospadious without sacrificing the foreskin.

What do you mean by "extreme amounts of foreskin"? The amount of foreskin varies from baby to baby. Some have overhang, some don't. Was your son circumcised for something like "redundant foreskin"? If so, you got duped and I would highly recommend consultation with a lawyer who specializes in circumcision lawsuits. You could start by contacting Attorney's for the Rights of the Child, http://www.arclaw.org .

Hey Katy, my mom said the exact opposite. My two oldest brothers (born in 1946 and 1949) are intact. My younger brother (born 1957) got circ'd because the dr told my mom it was the new fashion, cleaner, recommended, etc. She always regretted it and, she never said this, but I think my intact Dad must have been livid about it.
