GD testing... is it too late?

Around the 26th week or so, I did a fasting blood test with a glucometer--the reading was fine. I was supposed to do a 2 hour draw at the midwife's office during the 28th week but due to some confusion between the mw and the administration of the birth center, they said that they will only do a 2 hour draw if it is preceeded immediately by a fasting draw. Not wanting to come in again and have to sit for 2 hours there, I just signed off completely on the glucose testing. I felt okay with the fact that I already did a fasting draw and planned to just do a 2 hour one on my own.

So... weeks have passed, I never did the 2 hour test. I need to borrow my FIL's glucometer to do it and they live 1.5 hrs away. I don't plan on going there until after the delivery, and glucometer test strips are way too expensive for me to justify buying them.

I've just started worrying a little bit that maybe I should test myself (the 2 hour post meal) just in case...I still have 8 weeks left, so if i need to make any changes in diet, I can do it now. I *don't* have a GD friendly diet so that's what worries me. Plus both my maternal aunts had GD and diabetes runs in that side of the family.

Any advice? Am I over worrying, or should I just test to be on the safe side?
