and I am HOPING beyond hope that my next labor WILL BE different and better than my last. I HAVE to have a HB or I don't know how I will react emotionally.

Anyone have a HB transfer and go on to have a HB later?

I know stressing isn't going to make this better, but I just can't help it.

Well, I had a c-section and then went on to have a homebirth. If I can do it what makes you think you can't?

Congratulations on your pgcy!

As for your question. I never transfered, so I can not really answer that, but I did have a first HB that I DID NOT want to repeat. I knew it WOULD be different with the next, and after all my learning, it was.

You can do it. Trust yourself.

Cause your c-section was the result of doctors not doing anything useful at all. My transfer had all the normal care behind it. . .

Well, you can learn from the first birth. Take steps to perhaps strengthen your sac and tone your uterus. Perhaps consider EPO for your cervix. Remember your cervix has now been stretched so any scar tissue issues should not repeat. Pay super close attention to positioning and do what you can to encourage your baby in an optimal position. Remind me to let you read my book. Your first baby was in a funky position and he proably couldn't move to a better position as your water broke very early. Chiro care can help with too.

Don't forget that every birth and baby is different.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

My midwife transferred me after I gave birth to my first (not at home but at a freestanding birth center...) due to a post partum hemorrhage. After such a great birth experience, this seriously sucked -plus, the hospital ER was a total nightmare. Long story....

Anyway, when I became pregnant with my second, I, like you, was a little nervous. I heard what my obgyn (I visit him between pregnancies) said which was ARE YOU CRAZY? YOU WANT TO GIVE BIRTH OUT OF HOSPITAL AGAIN?? etc etc and then I basically decided - yes!! because I don't want my child born in a hospital. There is a greater risk of a pph happening if you have one once, I know this. But to me, a positive birth experience was the most important thing. I accepted any risks.

When I met with mws the second time around, I asked them all what they would do to help me avoid pph this time. They all had a lot of really good info - and all of them said I could do a homebirth with proper nutrition and post partum precautions.

When I selected my midwife, she helped me work through the last remaining doubts/fears I had about the complication happening again. She outlined the "game plan" for after the birth. So going into the birth, I felt really good!

After a WONDERFUL homebirth (I'm so glad I did it!) I did get a little worried about bleeding again - and I still bled more than normal - but because the midwife had planned for it - she effectively managed the bleeding. And I got to stay home with my sweet baby - no transfer!

My advice would be to talk to all prospective mws about your fears - find one that you connect with - and then during the pregnancy continue to work through them so that you can release them before birth time!
