She's here!! and I desperately need name help!

Hi ladies,

My sweet little bundle of joy arrived on Labor Day, Sept 4th at 2:00 in the afternoon. She was a bit of a surprise, since she arrived 18 days before my due date. She was still full term though, and came out a healthy 7 lbs.

She was born at home with just my husband and midwife in attendance and although I had terrible back labor (her hand and arm were up by her head) the birth went smoothly and I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. We didn't know the gender beforehand but we strongly suspected she was a girl. She is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me!!

I will post my real birth story soon, but haven't finished it yet.

So here is the problem -- she was born over a week ago and we still don't have a name for her. :

We have to file her birth certificate application in two days. I need help!!!

Here is what we are down to so far. Please let me know your thoughts.

Mariela (mah-ree-el-ah) (not mary-ella)
Aviana (or Avianna) (pronounced Ah-vee-ah-nuh)
Kiana (key-ah-nuh)
Annabella (ah-nuh-bell-ah)
Maribella (Mah-ree-bell-ah)

Congrats!

I vote for Kiana

Many heartfelt Congratulations, SaveTheWild!!

I'd go with either Kiana or Aviana...both are beautiful.

Hi meggles! So good to hear from you!

I can't believe I have a baby!! It is so great. I am so excited for you when your time comes -- its better than you can even imagine!

I really like the sound of Mariela.

But just looking at the name, I'd pronounce it Mah-ree-el-ah, not Maw-ree-el-ah. I think the initial Mah is much nicer than Maw (which reminds me of Morrie, an old man's name).

Good luck!

"Mah" is what I meant, I am just bad at spelling out pronunciations. I'll go up and fix it, thanks! I just wanted to avoid the "mare" sound as in "mary".

Congratulations Mama! I think all the names are very pretty and feminine, and Aviana is my favorite.

Another vote for Kiana!!!! It is beautiful and unique

For some reason, Aviana reminds me of bottled water : sorry

I say Kiana Mariela Aviana but then both mine have 3 + the last name

Not in your DDC, but had to jump in!

I'm toying with Annabelle myself, so definitely love that name (and Annabella). I would probably vote for Kiana, though, just because all the others she is going to have lots of trouble with people insisting on calling her by another pronounciation (I get it all the time with my name, so I know firsthand!). I think she'd have less trouble with that with Kiana, and I think it's a beautiful name!

(uh, that is if you're located in the U.S., where your way of pronouncing those names is not the "norm"...which is the problem I have with my name, too)

Congratulations, by the way!

first off,congratulations!!!

my vote is on mariela

Congratulations on the arrival of your baby girl! My vote is for Mariela or Maribella- I love Annabella and was considering it for our baby, but it seems like lots of others are also naming their baby this...not sure if you are going for an uncommon name. Best of luck, Mama!

Congrats!

I like Annabella best - if it worked with our last name it'd be the top of my girl list.

I'd stay away from a name you are already saying "Not pronounced XYZ way" you know? It'll be a source of frustration forever.
