Yes - planned a waterbirth in the midwife unit of a hospital. I was going through transition by the time I got in the tub, pushed for 1 1/2 hours in the water and then my contractions started slowing down...I was really exhausted, practically dozing off between each contraction. So I got out of the water and onto the bed into a semi-sitting position and pushed for ANOTHER 1 1/2 hours before I finally pushed DS out. I honestly didn't think at that point that I would be able to birth him w/o some kind of intervention, thank goodness I had a birth team (DH, doula, nurse-midwife, nurse's assistant) who were DETERMINED that I would do this. I'm convinced that if I had gone with an OBGYN, they would have done an emergency c-section. Or at least used forceps.

chalk it up to waiting 36 hours in the hospital AFTER my water broke for labor to start, then 20 hours of labor and the effects of taking the sleeping medication they offered me the night b/4 to help me relax.

Not the worst hospital birth in the world...but I'm doing it at home next time!

I had planned on a waterbirth. I had hired a nice tub and laboured quite a while in it until midwife wanted to do an internal. Ended up on our bed and i didnt want to move again so he was born there.

If i have #4 im still going to plan a waterbirth.

I hadn't exactly planned a waterbirth, but was fine with that happening. I'd been in the water for close to two hours and really did not feel capable of getting out. I mean, maybe a fire in the house could have gotten me out, or some similar emergency. I was in a lot of pain and it was all I could do to just sort of swim into different positions in the water, then sink into immobilization between contractions. But then I too suddenly got the feeling that I needed to get OUT NOW and I leapt out with no problem. (That's the adrenaline of a normal second stage, which I didn't know at the time.) The baby was born on dry land about five minutes later.
