How are you / did you tell extended family?

Okay, so you know, DH knows, now how did you tell Mom, Dad, inlaws, brothers sister, etc?

All our others were just phone calls since we lived far away, but we live close now, we could actually do something physical and in person. It's going to be our last probably (well, #3 is the last child for sure, lets hope this is the last pregnancy) so I was thinking it would be fun to do something big this time.

We haven't told anyone IRL. Truth be told, this pregancy is such a shock to us and soooooo not when we thought is should happen, that we're taking a bit to let it sink it, get a plan together and then we're going to tell family. We live with my MIL right now and this house is already bursting at the seams, so we want to make sure we'll be in a place to get our own house before the baby is born so it isn't such of a burden for her. Not that she'd really care, but for our own piece of mind, KWIM?! Eeeekkk...baby #4! How did that happen?! : Guess it just goes to show us that we are only in control of our life soooo much, the rest is up to God.

We haven't really told anyone. We are hoping to wait until closer to Dec. When MIL asks for a xmas list we are going put a tandem stroller on the list and see how long it takes for them to firgure it out....LOL Our youngest is only 8 mo.

We have not made an official announcement yet and will wait until my first dr. apt which is not until the middle of October (no need to rush these things). Dh and I joke that we are not going to tell the older two (they are teenage boys) as they are pretty oblivious to their surroundings and our very much self involved. We have a bet how long it would take them to discover there is actually a baby in the house.

I haven't even told my hubby yet, I'm trying to think of a creative way to do it; making shirts for my boys that say, I'm going to be a Big Brother AGAIN! and Big Bro in Training and on the back, Training complete May 2007...I might serve the prego test stick up with dessert, do something to the remote control so when hubby picks it up...I'm not sure yet. Our first was a surprise and we were young and broke so I told him hesitantly. The second had been 8 years later, with a year of continually TTC but with no luck, so when I found out, I blurted it out to the world!

With our family, since we found out I was prego with #2 in Oct., we wrapped up a pic of the U/S and gave it to my parents and IL's for Christams. This is about the same time of year, but I don't know how to tell them. I'll talk it over with hubby after he finds out. This is much quicker than I had planned, I wanted to try again in another year, but I am thrilled now that I am!

found out like two weeks ago--at first i just told my boyfriend, and basically cried for two days because this is about the last thing i would have thought i wanted right now.

told two of my best friends, and told my ex-husband (who is actually a wonderful and supportive friend to me)...but HAVEN'T told any of the parents yet. Not sure I'm going to either, heh.

My parents are old-fashioned and think a divorce is scandalous enough--they are going to cut me out of their lives completely over this. I've never *really* had to live without the cushion of their financial support behind my husband's income...so I'm quite scared.

I figure they'll eventually ask why my jeans don't fit anymore, and hopefully by then I'll have some dependable place to stay :

I just found out today, and haven't even had the chance to tell my dh, but I'm planning on handing him the pg stick at the door, and walking away. This pregnancy while "kind of" planned, is a bit of a shock I didn't think I would get pregnant so quick.

As for parents.... I'm not telling my mom, she won't be happy for us. She wanted me to stop having kids at 1. So I think 5 kids will be a bit of a shocker for her. I'll keep it to myself at least till christmas. as for dh's mom, well I'm not telling her so whenever dh gets around to it she'll find out.

Um, can you move in with your boyfriend? It's going to be his reponsibility too after all. I hope your parents are more supportive than you think that they're going to be.... sometimes they surprise us.

I just found out today, and I haven't told DH yet either, . My phone rang this morning as soon as I saw the bfp on the stick and I was so excited, I thought it was DH, so I picked it up... it was my sister, so I had to tell her, since I had JUST found out. Well, turns out my mom was in the car with her, and my mom was on her cell phone talking to my dad at the moment, so now my mom, dad and sister know, by DH has no clue!!! How weird! I think I'm going to draw a picture with dd that says something about her going to be a big sister and hang it on the door for him to see as he comes home from work! This was a totally unplanned pg and I think he will have some mixed emotions at first, but he'll get over the shock and be as excited as me in a day or so!

Not all of our family knows. Only my family are in on it. Dh's family won't be as happy since they have issues so we have chosen not to tell them until she notices I am pregnant.. LOL

I haven't told that many friends either. LOL

I'd love to, but he has to move to Germany next month! he rly wants to stay and says he'll send me money etc...but he needs to go there because it's the only place where he can get *his* life together. It's a truly crazy situation.

Given that we recently moved in with my mother, we told her/my stepfather/my little brother, and we told the kids. Other than that, I've only told a few online friends, since I know they won't tell any of my RL friends. I don't mind telling people, but my husband wants to wait a bit, so that's fine with me.

Ever been to Germany?? I had a friend living there for a long time so I went to visit, nice place. Munich is a pretty nice city... move there!

Our dads' birthdays are both in October. We are thinking of telling to them that way. Maybe get a present from Baby X or something like that.

We have the same prob with dh's family. We probably won't tell them for quite a while. They have had to help us out financially a few months ago, and while we are finally getting it all together and making money, they will be really disappointed that we didn't wait longer. MIL has a very strong personality and I think it's something we don't even want to think about until after we've paid them back.

DH spilled the beans to his mom tonight! WIMP!!!!
He told her we had our Christmas list and told her we needed another crib and a double stroller. She asked if we were going to put my 14 DD in a stroller. He said NO. Next thing I heard was REALLY!!!! ANOTHER ONE!!!!!! LOL She was a bit excited. My family will be the ones who are disapproving.

My sister is due with her first any day now, so we are waiting to tell everyone until all the excitement subsides a bit. I've told my best girlfriend, but that's it. We are having a b-day party for my son on the 30th though, and at the rate that my belly seems to be expanding, we may have to "come clean" then.

We've told our kiddo's. Our daughter will be 7 when the baby is born and she is sooooo excited. It took her a sec for it to sink in and then she flipped. DS immediately said he wanted a boy and then all chaos broke loose on what it should be, when it's coming. And shortly thereafter DD says "how did it get there anyway." yeah, guess we're going to have to figure out the best way to tell her. Not really sure I was ready to have that conversation yet!

We also told my MIL, who apparently had it figured out before we did. Her first comment was "I thought you guys were doing stuff to keep that from happening". Ah well..she says she's excited now, but her first comment was awfully : . I know she's just concerned because of where we are financially and we're living with her, but *I* know that all of that is going to change w/in the next 6mos, so it doesn't really matter. Her next comment was how my SIl would feel about it since she and her DH are TTC. Like I'm supposed to get un-pregnant so as not to interfere w/ my SIL's life. : She's usually the sweetest, kindest woman...so I don't know what her main beef is w/ us having more kids. Maybe she doesn't really think I do a good enough job with the ones I have?! Who knows?!

My mom on the other hand totally flipped and is soooo excited!

heh, my *life-dream* is to move to Europe!

However, I happen to have a great ex-husband who is an awesome dad, and I couldn't take my older two kids away from him, and I WILL NOT leave them! If he gets stationed in Germany then I could go, but not otherwise...

it's truly a crazy situation.
