Why I love midwives more than doctors.

I'm 2 weeks overdue. For my genetics, I'm actually just coming due, but my DH is freaking out. Because of my DH's issues, we have a doctor-a really bad doctor, but the only one around here-on backup.

So yesterday my doctor calls to find out why I haven't been in. I'm 2 weeks overdue-I need to be induced NOW before that baby dies!

Same day, my midwife does a check-up. Tells me I have a happy, healthy baby and if I want to get her here quicker I need to have sex. Lots and lots of sex.

My DH may be coming around to having a midwife!

Yes, my dh always like the last few weeks (and I usually hate him for it )

Sweetie I have been thinking of you. I pm'ed you. I am so glad that you have a great Midwife I am impressed you are getting a homebirth ( and very jealous). When I was overdue I tried everything. PersonallIy I think the baby comes when they come. I did try primrose capsules and that helped. Whatever you do don't try the castor oil. I have heard that makes for a poopy exhausting birth.

It sounds like you have a wonderful home and things are going so well. I am sooo happy for you.

Sending birthing thoughts your way

I hope your baby arrives soon!

My MW told me last night that babies come when they're ready, and not before. Such a different attitude than the bast majority of OBs.

I hurt too much for sex at the end, but taking 20min walks worked for me.

my dh grinned ear to ear when my midwife 'prescribed' lots of sex for speeding things up around 41 weeks. he really liked her.

Yeah, it figured, right when I was ready for the "lots of sex" prescription to get things moving along, my water broke (prematurely)! So, we didn't get to enjoy that little tidbit.
