A newborn with a cold?!? And the skinny on baby acne.

I thought it wasn't possible but poor Aria has had a cold since her 2 week birthday, which has been for a week. Green snot, too far up to suction out most of the time despite saline drops. She had only been out of the house ONCE to the doctor and there was no one in the waiting room. She isn't sleeping well and really only if I hold her sitting upright so she doesn't get congested. Yesterday she only slept 1.5 hours in a 12 hour period! And she is obviously pissed as a result! What happened to my bm giving her all the necessary antibodies? She is sleeping MUCH better today since I haven't put her down and have been upright since 2 am but I am going to drop dead at this rate. And she is miserable if anyone holds her but me.
On another note, Aria has only baby acne on her nose but it has been there since day 3 so almost 3 weeks. How long does it last and can I do anything for it?

Oh, poor Aria...Ian is stuffed up too, but not like that. His are dry crusty bits that block him up so I've been doing saline to loosen them up. I think his is environmental/weather related since the rest of us are having the same thing. He's also had most of his original acne fade away but he's been having new waves of red and white bumps. There is one by his eye that's been there about 3 weeks.

Don't have any answers but Aria isn't the only one.

spencer has baby acne too, but i'm not sure there's really anything we can do about it. i thought that it was caused by the hormones in our breast milk??? i thought i read that somewhere... it doesn't seem to bother him, but it sure looks terrible. poor guy. any other ideas?

I know how you feel. one of my friends came by with her son who had a cold about 3 weeks after dd was born, she got his stupid cold and I slept with her on my chest for a week so she could breathe. Man, was I lividnat friend. Friend's response was, "well, she has to get sick some time!". I couldn't believe it!

My DD has some serious baby acne (it covers her entire head!) and also has a bit of a cold. Last weekend was bad, I slept with her upright on my chest while I basically sat in a chair and watched tv all night long. I was too scared to fall asleep. She somehow has the sniffles again, or it went away for a bit and then came back.

Oh, and the thing about breastfed babies not getting sick? It's b.s. Of course there are babies who are super healthy, no problems at all, but my DD#1's first year, she was sick alot and never had a drop of formula. Yeah, it helps, but it's not the perfect cure all. Sorry to burst your bubble
