Miss Lily Salome arrived safe and sound, reluctantly, at home today at 9:51am.
She was 12 days past her EDD, and made a lovely decision to arrive just in time for the weekend. A nice reward for everyone involved
. My MW came out to the house yesterday at 11am and checked me (I was at 4cm
) and swept my membranes. At 2pm I started having very light contractions. By 6pm they were just a little stronger so DH sent DD to sleep over at her godfather's house, and we were ready to have a baby. The contractions weren't progressing so we went to bed around 9pm. At 2am I woke up and knew we were on our way, so we called the MW's who arrived at 3:30. Labor was longer than with Piper, but much easier. I was afraid to stand/squat when having contractions with Piper, but this time I tried it, and it cut my pain in half!. It was amazing. I also really enjoyed the labor ball this time, I hated it the first time. Labor was long becasue for some reason every time I walked into my bedroom contractions would go from every 3 minutes to every 7 or 8! When I would get downstairs, literally the last step, I would have a contraction, so we kept coming back downstairs where I walked a track from the dining room to the living room. I would roll my hips and squat a bit for contractions, it was nice. They would immediatley go back to 3 minutes apart! I was still chatting and laughing between contractions at 9cm! Lily was not interested in coming out at all, so she hung out in the birth canal for at least 2 hours, and was still kicking me as she was coming out. She also rotated completly from one side to the other as she was being born, my MW said she was spinning on her finger! I pushed on the birthing stool, at the end of the bed, in DH's arms and we caught her together! And then cried a lot. Pushing was much harder this time, I wasn't expecting that because it was my favorite part last time. But once I got her past the cervix it only took 3 pushes and she was out. YAY!
:
She was really freaked out about coming into the world, very upset. So I put her on the breast about 10 minutes old and she latched right on and settled right down! She is eating and sleeping like a champ, and her first meeting with her big sister was everything I thought it would be. They love each other so much, and DD is very good at being gentle. No hint of jealousy...We are very happy and hoping to get some sleep soon. I will post pics sometime soon...
