Did anyone else listen to TAL on Saturday? It was about parenting and unconditional love. The segment about the parents and the child adopted from Romania was intense! It made me cry! Also had a great story about a family dealing with an autistic child.

No but it sounds great, I always miss that show and wish there were a way to get a copy of some of the highlights? Do they have them online or anything?

I did! What a great show! Actually, it had me crying in the first 10 minutes when Ira was talking about the chimpanzee experiment. I look forward to TAL every week!

I was out of town and only caught the end of the show as I was coming back into town. I usually listen to them online when I miss them, but I cannot listen to that days broadcast for free. I will have to wait to hear it tomorrow....unless someone knows a way to hear it for free today? Maybe I have been missing this feature for years?!

Anyway, I will listen to it tomorrow if I cannot get into it for free today. I cannot wait! It is absolutely a favorite show....

I love This American Life. Such a great show!

I haven't heard it b/c I listen to it at work while I do paperwork. I can't wait to hear a new one (even though David Saderis' Paris makes me laugh until I cry).

No, but Love Ira Glass.
OT: I was watching a PBS program Saturday called (something) Nation?Anyways it is 3 colleg kids figuring out their life and carrer course. They travel and interview people in various fileds. They did an awesome interview with Ira Glass, he really had some jewels of wisdom and advice for them.

Lazyhead,
How do you get the shows for free? When I go to that site and click on the show it says it's $13! (I think I can get them from iTunes for $5 or $6 but I'd rather listen free since I missed this one!)

Thanks!

Oh man, sorry. I guess I'm wrong. You used to be able to listen for free!!! Lame. :

WOW, I AM SO MAD!!!! : I usually stream since I listen to the radio infrequently on the weekends. I cannot believe public radio would now actually charge for those programs. $.95 is still too much when you have to pay for the segments. I donate money to NPR twice a year and enjoy streaming the porgrams for free whenever I feel like it. Oh, I am going to have to write them a letter.

I also saw Ira Glass on PBS this weekend. He is kind of cute

Ok, I am a FOOL
You can stream all past episodes for free. A MP3 download is $.95 and a CD copy of the show is $13. If you go to the archives and click on the blue icon next to the show title it will stream in your media player for free. I am listening to the show now.... so very good.

I agree with this LOL. I was always attracted to his voice, but while watching his interview I was thinking that he was really a cutie.

Darn! For some reason on my cp there is no blue button next to last weeks show! There is only the green dollar button and then the option to get it for .95

I am so sad. I have had it happen where I cannot listen to it until Monday...but now it is Tuesday and I still have not been able to listen!

Has anyone else had this problem? I went into the archives and everything...no blue button! There is a blue button next to every other show though!

I have a big crush on Ira. I went to the taping of the 10th anniversary episode (recorded live on stage) in Chicago and I fell in love.

Well, I am not sure why but when I get onto NPR.org it just tells me that the show will be available to listen to soon....I will just keep checking...or I may break down and pay the .95!

Yes, I have a friend in love with him, but she says she thinks he's gay? Not that there's anything wrong with that. Unless you wanted to jump his bones.

Back on topic, I heard this episode too. The mom sorta sounded like Sarah Vowell, and then I couldn't get that image out of my mind. Of Sarah Vowell adopting an Romanian orphan.

The autistic son was what made me cry, particularly when the dad was taking his son back to his group home (which was making the son a happier person).

The only problem with TAL is having a six year old and listening to TAL. Many of the segments seem to require very loooong explanations after listening to them.

I love TAL!

I listen to it every week. (It's on Tuesday night, here.)

I love how they have a theme, and then do stories that are variations on that theme.

Did anyone hear the "Letters" one?! (It was sometime this summer.) Soooo funny!
