Caught the tail end of Jeepers Creepers 2 tonight on TV and it got me thinking about horror movies. What's your favourite and worst?
You know, I totally LOVE scary/creepy movies. Love 'em. But, my worst one is Jeepers Creepers for some reason. I mean, what a DUMB movie but the ending was too bleak; ie. left screaming alone in the dark w/the bad guy w/no hope of ever escaping.

Did #2 build on the first one; ie. did that guy ever escape?

On a MUCH lighter note, we just saw Brothers Grimm. FUN

The ending of Jeepers Creepers 1 was very bleak. If you're refering to Dary (the brother) then no, he didn't escape. The last scene of the movie was quite gruesome, not sure if I should post it here. But he was erm definitely dead. You do see him in a dream sequence in Jeepers 2 though, psychic girl on the school bus experiences Dary warning her about the 'Monster'.

If the title is correct, The Haunting scared the living daylights out of me when I first saw it, especially because it was supposed to be based upon a true story of a family. Supernatural films do tend to scare me more than blood/guts horror. Oh and Jaws, I saw this film for the first time when I was 10yrs and not ONE adult in the room warned me of the head coming out of the boat sequence. I swear, I didn't close my eyes for months at bedtime without seeing that image in my head. If I watch Jaws now, I never, ever watch that sequence, I always cover my eyes and I'm 33 years old

Haven't seen the Grimm film yet, must check it out next time I am at the DVD rental shop.

Yeah I saw Jaws when I was a little kid learning how to swim and I STILL don't like to swim in dark deep waters.
ANd, I agree, the supernatural movies can bother me. What's that one w/Nicole Kidman where she's in the house w/her kids and they start to see ghosts? Then, you find out she killed her kids and the three of them are actually the ghosts in the house? The Others maybe? That was creepy at the end.

We saw The Cave last week. Too dang funny. Crack team of expendables dispatched to explore a cave and get eaten one by one.... :

So, should I rent Jeepers 2; ie. is the ending better than the first? Oh, I thought the guy (yeah maybe the brother) lost his eyes and was imprisoned in the cellar w/the guy? Years ago, though, so may be off base.

i cover my eyes at that point too!
Just saw the American Haunting? Can't remember if that was the name, scared me some.
The descent was creepy, gross and scary!
I love scary movies

I'm just the other way around. I can't stand to see a person doing serious bodily harm to another person, but I just love the supernatural ones. The Ring was really cool. DH doesn't like scary movies so I don't get to see them too often.

I didn't like the M. Night Shamylan movies- Sixth sense, etc.--I thought they were too predictable.

His The Village looked pretty cool but just DRAGGED. Come on...just have something/anything happen that's remotely freaky. ALthough, I did like the ending--I didn't see that coming.

Well, I pride myself in not being easily disturbed.

Canada's Wonderland Haloween fest last year.

I was able to do every single one of their haunted mazes without screaming or freaking out ONCE. I think I pissed off the actors, who were doing a REAL good job. I mean it was amazing the work and the effort that went into Screamfest (I think that's what it's called)

I'm not much for the rides though...I dont like rollercoasters much..but the mazes were so exceptionally well done it was phenomenal. Too bad I dont get disturbed/scared very easily.

Well there was *ONE* Part I got freaked out in, they converted the log ride tunnel to a haunted walk and I got disturbed by the utter blackness of the tunnel...Clusterphobia kicked in and I was a bit scared...but that was the ONLY time I got freaked out that night lol.

OMG If you live near Canada's wonderland and can swing the cash for a sitter and the admission, GO TO THE HALOWEEN EVENT! You will not be dissapointed.

Seriously.

We'll probably watch it next Saturday. I'll book it with DH lol.

if anyone's up for serious kind of scary, try 'maria full of grace'. truly, sincerely frightening. not in a gory way so much.

I may have to check that out.

One of my old school favorites is "The Changeling" with George C. Scott. Totally creepy. I also love all of Tobe Hooper's work (he did Texas Chainsaw) esp. a not so well known one called "Funhouse." I own it on dvd, lol!

As for disappointments, I've seen "Darkness" and "Dark Water" this week and didn't care for either one.

I do not watch horror movies pretty much at all. My Dd's fave, however, is the "Ring 2" and "Hide and Seek". Both Dd and Ds kinda like "Jeepers Creepers" too.
I think the name of the movie I'm thinking of is 'In the Mouth of Madness'. That creepy old man on the bike....*shudder*
post #19 of 108
I really like What Lies Beneath with Michelle Pfieffer and Harrison Ford, and the old Amityville Horror with Margot Kidder and James Brolin.

The Ring scared the snot out of me! I haven't seen The Ring Two.

Worst one?...Octopus. I didn't even finish it!
