Yea! DH and I are new homeowners!

Yippee! Omigoodness, we had the whirlwind weekend of a lifetime. We found a home last week that we really liked but its up north of Toronto, Ontario. We live just north of NYC in New Jersey (read: 9 hour drive or $600+ flight each). So, Friday morning we decided to jump in a car that night and start the drive up to my hometown. We stayed over in Syracuse (left at 8 and got to Syracuse at about midnight) and then were up the next morning to complete the trip and arrived at about one pm. We met with our realtor at 3, saw the home, fell in love with it, and put in an offer. The owners haggled with us until 11 pm at which point, we sat in my mom's kitchen and FINALLY signed the agreed-upon contract. Yea!

Such a relief. With the baby only five weeks away, I was getting anxious that we wouldn't find a home before he or she came. And even though we won't move until end of February, at least now we have a place to live! I'm so thrilled!!!!! Now I just have to plan a move once January rolls around....yikes!

Anyhow, just had to share our good news!

Thanks! We're still on a high and working out all of the details. Yeah, Jody, I managed to convince my all-American husband to move to Canada...lol. I"m hoping he enjoys it! I think all in all, life will be better up there. Its so congested here and I'm not such a fan of all of the people, cars, buildings, etc.

We are thrilled, thanks!!!!

How ironic that you found the American dream....in Canada.

Congratulations! Owning a home is so exciting and wonderful all around!

I live just outside of Ottawa and have family (DH's) in Peterborough whom we visit often. Maybe we'll meet up one day and can show off our babes to one another

That sounds great! I can't remember if I said it or not, but we're moving to Barrie. I'd love to meet up with a MDC mama! I love Ottawa and Peterborough - great towns! The hardest thing about moving to Barrie was convincing my husband that it doesn't rain or snow all of the time. Every time we've visited my hometown (with exception to this past weekend), there has been horrible weather. LOL....he's convinced Barrie is Canada's Seattle.

WELCOME!!!

to Canada I mean.......

My DH is from Ontario, (muskoka area) All of his family is around toronto in that sprawl of towns(ajax, scarborough). We make it our every few years. We are B.C. folks, a tad more on the laid back side the Ontario but from what I here Ontario is a tad more laid back then where you coming from!

Where abouts are you guys gonna be??? Its so great that you can plan you home, even if its just in your mind for now....it won't be long before your in and settling!
