A vent and grateful

I need to vent about how incredibly STUPID I am and say how grateful and blessed I am that the outcome wasn't so bad.

I was just comment to DH last week about how his mother has twice tried to feed dairy to our youngest son. After almost 3 years of these allergies you would think that she would be more vigilant.

Then along comes ME - mother of the year. Last night I made a sausage, broccoli and corn pasta dish. After it got to our plates we put parmesan cheese on it. DS#2 has soy parmesan cheese that he uses. Then I noticed that the sausage seemed a little under cooked so I grabbed the sausage off everyones plate and threw it into the microwave and then divided it up again. It wasn't until DS#2 mentioned that his mouth hurt that it dawned on me that I put cheese on my sausage and I cross contaminated.

However, he spit out the sausage immediately and I gave him benadryl and he had no more reaction. No throwing up, nothing. It must have been only a few grains of cheese which is scary considering how quickly his body reacts but I am so grateful that everything turned out okay.

Never fun, is it? I did that recently. My dd and ds1 both can tolerate clarified butter, ds2 cannot. I buttered their bread and licked my finger. Yeah. We had lots of mucous and vomit for several days. No fun. Unfortunately it seems no matter how vigilant you are these things just happen.
