My dd just started first grade after finishing preschool (3-6) in Montessori. She is having trouble adjusting to the classroom and not sitting/staying at her desk when she is suppose to. I know I've heard that the transition is hard for many. Anyway experience this or have any advise. I should add that dd LOVES school though and is always soooo excited about it. The issue is her teacher is having a hard time dealing with her independent nature. TIA, Micky

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

She'll probably figure it out soon. My daughter went to Montessori for 2 years of preschool and 1 year of kindergarden. She just started second grade. She did not like public school at first. She mostly just freaked out that there were kids there getting into trouble. She was so scared that she was going to be sent to the principal. Within a couple months, she was fine. She loves school now.

She will be fine and adjust well....and more than likely will be bored for a bit. And shine in the classroom. I think it would be easier to adjust at this age than going into high school like I did. I went to Montessori until 8th grade and then we moved to Ohio. It was a very rough transition from mostly hands on to book learning and I was ahead a bit in history, sciences and such and got great grades bc they wouldn't let me take higher classes without taking the others first so I was pretty bored my freshman year.

You may want to research magnet and charter schools in your area.
I had the same fears about the transition, he is still in private Montessori and can go to 4th grade level, but my pocket book won't hold out that long, plus the 8 and above class has 10 kids, all white, and mostly girls and I want more diversity, so I was able to find a public Montessori program through our public magnet schools that goes through the 8th grade.
