When my boys were tiny they called me Mumma or sometimes Mummy; now I'm Mom. For some reason I really hated when people would refer to me as "Mommy" when talking to the boys. Most especially my [now ex-] MIL, because I **know** she deliberately mispronounced it because she thought "Mumma" was 'weird.' Oddly, my own mother was Mummy, not Mumma...she called her mother (who I never knew; she died when my mom was a little girl) "Mumma" and I always liked it. It came out naturally when I had babies.
Even more oddly, I have come to refer to myself, in the third person, as the Mama. Only with articles: the
Mama or a
Mama. I picked up the habit during my hipMama tenure, I guess
The boys called their father Daddy and now he's Dad. I refer to him either as "Daddy" or, depending on how much he's pissing me off at any given moment, a gritted-teeth "your father."
They just call my SO by his first name, and always will, I guess.
