Living On Live Food is my favorite cookbook. It's vegan and soy free with the exception of a few recipes that have bragg's as ingredients. Food Allergy Survival Guide is also a great one.

Most Living food sites have great recipes that are generally soy free, too. Recipes at www.rawfoodtalk.com and www.fromsadtoraw.com are the the ones I use most frequently.

For soy-free vegans, I highly recommend

The Vegan Mediterranean Kitchen by Donna Klein

She has visited all of the countries that border the Mediterranean sea and gathered authentically-vegan recipes. There are no soy products, no egg or milk substitutes (soy or otherwise) and everything I've made from it has been delicious! Incidentally, there are also many wheat-free recipes.

I'm willing to share the memory-marked recipe posts from my livejournal with a caveat: not all recipes are vegetarian. I saved some for my husband, who eats meat, and I saved some out of thoughts that I could convert them to gluten recipes back when I could still have gluten. My recipes are generally pretty egg and cheese heavy because I need extra calories, fat, and protein.

There are occasional recipes which contain easily substituted soy (sauce, seitan, flour, oil, etc).

food memories
a few more, more food allergy specific than recipe-specific

When I could still have gluten, I made a soy sauce sub from marmite, hot water, and salt. It made excellent addition to dipping sauce for veg*n lumpia. I miss those.

Back in those days, I also made seitan (technically not seitan without tamari, but who's looking?) in my bread machine and crockpot. I used the various spice blends, amended for my own safety, from Mr. Falafel's seiten *insert meat here* cutlets posts on alt.food.vegan (which are archived here--that's just the pork option. There are beef and other varieties). I also added stuff like cracked tapioca pearls, for texture.

VegWeb has some decent soy-free files, but I hate navigating that site. It's clunky and the links get outdated fast.

I once made chickpea curd. It was HORRID. Metallic silken tofu. Ugh. It was in a veg magazine and called "tohu". I was never a silken tofu fan, preferring the chewier cakes. This stuff like like eating slimy gram flour. *shudders*

Fabulous Beans and More Fabulous Beans--nice cookbooks by Barb Bloomfield. A few of the recipes involve soybeans, but most are for other lovely legumes!

The Food Allergy Survival Guide might be useful--it has recipes free wheat, gluten, soy, eggs, dairy, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, and yeast.

Alternative Vegan is a brand new soy-free vegan cookbook. Most of the recipes are wheat-free, too.

We have been making recipes from the Dr. McDougall newsletter archives for dinner every night for the past several weeks. Not all the recipes are soy-free, but many are, and many more just have trace amounts of soy, like a tablespoon of soy sauce. All are vegan, and all are very low fat. I feel stupid for not having discovered that resource long ago, because it's proving to be a serious treasure trove of awesome, easy recipes!

So, glad I found this. We are also gluten free.

The Rasta Cookbook by Laura Osborne is a Rastaferian cookbook but the recipes are very straightforward, easy to make, healthy and only a few actually call for soy ingredients. The majority of the recipes are vegan. I've made many recipes from this book and they have all been delicious. There is a carrot ginger salad in this book that is so delicious and so simple - my 4 year old can make it! Highly recommend this title as a non-soy source.

Donna Klein has authored a second soy-free vegan cookbook, and it is just as good as her first one: Vegan Italiano.

we use the Farm Vegetarian Cookbook a lot--a lot of the soy recipes work great with other beans and I haven't had any problems substituting for soy sauce in any recipes.

another favorite are the seitan recipes from Ellen's Kitchen
This Crockpot recipe works great (we triple it in our 6qt crock pot)

Sometimes we can sneak a little braggs in without a problem, and its good, but most of the time we just go with a sage, thyme, rosemary. etc flavor scheme instead, and it comes out WONDERFUL

Field Roast Sausages

I discovered them about a year ago and forgot to post about it. They are soooooooooooo good! They come in Apple sage, Mexican chipotle, and Italian. They are mainly seitan and lentil. The texture is perfect and so is the flavor.

Field Roast also makes soy-free deli slices, loaves, etc.

I've kept meaning to add this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Jewish-Vegetar.../dp/0916288439

I got this out of the library a while ago and if memory serves it has little or no soy in any of its recipes, and is vegan even though it says "vegetarian."

It's one of the more interesting/ innovative/ original vegan cookbooks I've ever seen.
