Dust mites and allergies/eczema

Has anyone found dust mites to be an irritant for their childs allergies/eczema? If you have any info about it.. please share!

I am really trying to find the cause of my daughters (3) eczema that started end of May. My twins (4 mo) have runny nose and cough time to time and Baby A seems to be getting eczema as well.
We are a milk and gluten free family so I know it's not that at least...
Thanks!

My 12 month old has been wheezing non-stop for the last month. Worse in the morning. He used to only wheeze when he had a cold. Took him to the doc, b/c he wasn't responding well to his nebulizer treatments. Doc agreed w/ me that it was probably dust allergy. And until we move out of this old apartment w/ its crappy old carpets, there's not much we can do about it.

You can definitely get eczema from dust allergies. To help w/ dust allergies, you need to get dust mite proof covers for mattresses, box springs, and ppillows. Dust and vaccuum the room weekly and wash sheets in hot water weekly. Wash curtains every 2 weeks or more often. hth!

My 4 yr old had eczema which started over the summer. Previous to that he has had issues with non stop sinus issus especially at night. We did see an ear/nose/throat doc who said our son needed surgery. Not one to jump into surgery I did some more reasearch. I came accross info on dust mites one day and found my sons symptoms fit with a dust mite allergy. I pulled all stuffed animals from his room except 1, removed his throw rug, we never had curtains up and now we never will, I covered the mattress, boxspring & pillow with special dust mite covers, I got the mattress up off the floor onto a frame, I vacuumed every spec of dust, I changed his blanket to an easy to wash comforter, I washed all sheets and blankets in really hot water. Within a couple of days there was a noticeable difference in his breathing at night. His eczema was gone in 3 weeks. He still has some sinus issues at night but nothing like he used to. I keep the dogs out of his room and wash all sheets & comforter once a week in hot hot water and vaccuum. I have also wrapped our bed in the same dust mite covers but am not as diligent with our bedding/room. My husband had an odd rash for years he always thought was sweat related. And it has totally gone. I read somewhere dust mites like warm moist environments. Looking back we realize my son got much worse last winter when my husband was using the humidifier in my sons room. Our house is too warm and with all that moisture it was dust mite heaven.

My kids have an allergy to dust mites (I suspected it, and allergy tests confirmed it). Lucy and Wendy have awesome advice. I do what they do, wash the sheets and bedding in hot water every week, vacuume like mad, washable cotton curtains, limited stuffed animals (those they do have go in the washer too), keep the pets out of the kids rooms. IMO the dust mite covers really, really helped.

Dust mites and pet dander are my main triggers for eczema. It starts a cycle of itchiness that ends with dry, eczema patches. I vacuum constantly and no pets are allowed in my bedroom.
