I knew even *before* my baby was born that I needed to be at the hospital. I was right, she was born with an extremely rare chromosome disorder and spent 5 days in the NICU for rapid breathing and being lethargic to the point that she couldn't eat. Guess my point is, while some people might get the intuition during labor, I got it before. I knew. KNEW. Something was seriously wrong with my baby and that she might die. Thank God, she didn't. Only one midwife and one nurse assisted in her birth, and I did not feel exploited. But, you don't know what a mother's intuition is until you are a mother, whether that be biologically or through adoption- it's still not productive to presume to dictate to other people how they should have handled their births.
