When I was on Metaformin with the clomid I must admit I didnt take it faithfully. I didnt know all that I do now, I was not properly educated. Anyways, now that I will probably be going back on I will be taking them the right way. I remember being sick as a dog on them, do any of you get like that?

As long as you start with a smaller doses and work your way up, you should feel okay. I started on 500 mg/day, went up to 1000 mg/day and I've been at 2000 mg/day for about a year now. I've never really felt too horrible on them, and it's certainly better than when I don't take them. I know a lot of people say if they're going to be drinking, they skip their evening dose and that helps.

bad constant, explosive diarrhea....nausea, general stoimahc troubles....

even with gradually increasing dosages, i got the wqorst version of the side efefcts and they never go away, no matter how long im on it.....

Metformin made me a bit icky for the first month, but I was fine after that. I did find that I was more averse to fatty foods, which is actually a good thing!

I also had a bit of the light sensitivity, but I also live in Las Vegas where the Nevada sun is harsh on everyone anyway.

Clomid was awful. I felt pukey all the time and I had wicked hot flashes. I actually heated up our bed so much that a couple of nights I sustained minor burns on my shoulder and hip pressed against the mattress! I could heat up entire rooms. Friends who knew about it could tell from across the room when a hot flash began because they could feel it.

And worst of all, the Clomid didn't work but I still had the lingering effects for about six months after I stopped. Hot flashes in Las Vegas in the summer is NO FUN.

Same with me - I have only just felt better since moving to the slow release - I now know what foods I can and can't eat and that helps a lot, but I usually have diarrhea once a day.......:

Another question do you all take it all the time or just when TTC. I am thinking about clomid after the first of the year but I was thinking that met owulbe be a good idea now just to kinda regulate my body some with this PCOS and if for some freaky reason I did get preggo I wouldnt be upset

I was put on metformin by my GP, not my fertility doc or OB/GYN. It was given for PCOS related issues aside from TTC, and it worked fairly well on most of those (the chin hairs remained but the weight dropped and my hormones levelled out a bit).

I'd actually like to be back on it right now but I saw my new doctor two days ago (our insurance changed, plus the doc who gave it to me originally has since retired) and the new guy refuses to give it to me while I'm breastfeeding. He hasn't read the Hale study saying it's safe, so for liability issues he can't prescribe it.

My weight would be under better control if I could have it back, but oh well.

Thanks, I am thinking that I am going to go and ask for that back for the weight, I would like to try that to get some off before full blown TTC.

Could you please link up the Met study Hale did. I have not found that, only info that it is not safe with nursing! TIA

I started taking the slow release about 3 1/2 weeks ago. For the most part I feel okay, but my stomach does ache every day until about 3pm (I take it after dinner). The first week I felt gassy at night and a lot of pressure, but that has gone away. My stomach doesn't hurt today, so maybe the effects are finally calming down!

i'm happy with the metformin. i intend to stay on it.my doc said it helps to prevent diabetes and control symtpoms of pcos. i have lost weight, have lesss sugar cravings, and have menstrual cycles again. i had a little bit of diahrea, but no other negative side effects. i started with one pill a day for a week then two pills a day for a week then three pills a day. i have been on it six months.
