Contractions when walking and doing stuff?

But when I sit down they go away. What does this mean?

It probably does not mean you are labor. I get these all the time too. When you are really in labor they won't go away any more. The good news is that your body is probably getting ready -- practicing away!

Whoopeee! Practice for labor. Fun isn't it? I can't twitch without contracting anymore, but no labor here either.

I'm going thru that too a bit. It's not every time I move or anything but it is many many times a day and it hurts down low. I've actually had to focus and breath thru a few of them today. I'm not due til the end of the month.

I reaqlly don't think I need practice, lol. Some of them hurt!

I know the feeling -- about them hurting! I have been having them all afternoon. Whenever I get up and sometimes even sitting down. Laying down seems to make them go away a little. I haven't really been timing them (sometimes I do that, just in case, to see how many I have in a hour). I need to wait until at least Tuesday for my homebirth. Hang on baby, we're almost there!

I'm right there with you. The contractions just _love_ me when I'm standing, walking and cleaning. They only sort of like me when I'm sitting. They barely pay me any mind when I'm lying down.

After two children I'd be happy to skip the weeks of 'practice', too. But in the end, I can only hope it leads to a shorter labour (ohpleaseohpleaseohplease!)

I hope you stop practicing and get to the real deal soon

I've been practicing for months now, I'll be glad when it's the real thing.

It means you're normal.
As I sit here typing this, I'm getting "contractions" about 10 minutes apart, just like every single night. They generally get worse when I lay down and disappear by morning, then start back up again in the evening. Going on three weeks.

I've been getting these too, but they don't go away when I'm resting. I just know that I've dilated and I'll find out tomorrow at my check up WOO HOO! My two other pregnancies were the same and I've had two very quick labors, I'm trying not to assume this one will be the same - apparantly the third one changes all the rules - so we'll just have to see! My guess date is the 4th Oct, not too far away!

Yes, walking and cleaning bring them on... at first I was alarmed because even though they didn't feel like labor contractions they were much longer and more intense than any braxton hicks I'd felt with dd!
