homeopathic remedies

Anyone have any experience with using homeopathic medicine to treat an allergy to cats? DH is really suffering, and needs help. I've read that onion can help, is it effective, or any other suggestions?

Allergy shots are out of the question, so we're hoping to find alternative therapies. Can't go to a professional right now due to finances, but anything short-term would be a help ATM.

TIA.

Depends on his symptoms. IF he gets teary burning eyes you could try it. Homeopathy is a like treats like type of medicine. you match your symptoms to the remedy. There are literally hundreds that can be used, but it depends what he's presenting with. IT's not about him having an allergy to cats, so just because someone used allium successfully doesn't mean he will. Make sense?

Do you have access to a homeopathic doctor? Or even a health food store with a large selection and knowledgeable staff? If you can match exact reaction, you may be able to choose the right one, but a homeopathic doctor can usually take in account other factors, just by visual observation sometimes, and know what to recommend.

He usually gets very red eyes, and they water and burn, plus a lot of sneezing and nasal irritation. I've tried one health store, but the staff didn't know a lot about it, and the kids were too restless for me to browse etc. I may have to try a different store.

Thanks ladies.

It *could* be a good fit. In any case, the worst that will happen is nothing. There are no side effects so if it isn't the right one you're out $6 and he is in the same boat.

If you know a homeopathic dr. you can have a remedy made from your cat's fur and dander. My boss did this and she doesn't react to her cats anymore. Allium cepa (homeopathic onion) sounds like the right remedy for the symptoms but my hunch is that you will need a different remedy to follow up with depending on what "picture" shows up after taking Allium. Just an update, we picked up some Allim Cepa, so he'll give it a shot (not sure if he needs to take it to prevent a flare-up, or just during an attack). Even if it only lessens the severity of his symptoms it will be well worth the $6.99!

We both agree that getting to a homeopath should be a priority though.
