Mother's Milk Bank

Okay, so I can't remember if I posted this or not, so if it's a double post - sorry! I talked to the Mother's Milk Bank in Denver, and they said that they do have out of area donors. They said that if you live near another milk bank, that they will refer you to that one though. All donors must go through a screening process and commit to collect at least 150 ounces. Their phone number is 303-869-1888 and their website is www.bestfedbabies.org.

My milk has been matched with an adopted baby of similar age near Atlanta. Hooray!
I went through MilkShare:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/MilkShare/
http://milkshare.birthingforlife.com/

I like this method because it is cheaper for the milk recipients and the milk does not get pasteurized (hence losing the good antibodies in breastmilk).

Cool! I'm pumping for an adoptive family too.

I was hoping to donate milk, not sure when I'll actually get it together to do so. I've had a rough recovery time and don't want to commit to anyone that I will be able to consistently provide milk.

It's so cool that we have so many donating mamas on this board, great job, ladies!

I'm so sad - after living in the UK during college, I can no longer donate blood under the current standards. And now I learn that I can't donate milk. MilkShare seems a little more forgiving, so I guess that might be a possibility if they're okay with me answering 'yes' to two things on the questionaire...
