These totally didn't work for me....they colored the bath water a little, but did nothing crayon-like at all on skin or the tub. Perhaps it was the kind of soap I used. What did everyone else use?

I'd love to make a batch the works, if I can get a soap rec.

Yeah, didn't work so great for me either. I grated Dove and colored them with natural yellow food coloring - made from turmeric. They were too soft and just didn't work great.

I read you need to use a soap like Dr Bonner's or even Ivory. I haven't tried it yet, though. It's on my list (along with sidewalk chalk ).

Ooh, I wanna try this. We have to grocery shop tonight too, so I think I will try and get the needed supplies. Thanks for the recipe and feedback on results.

I use unscented ivory myself anyway, so I'll give it a try when I can and see how it goes. Thanks for the recipe!

subbing since this is a fun, easy idea!

Yeah, the ones I made that were horrible were made using unscented Ivory. Oh well. I'll keep looking for another recipe. I'm glad it seems to be working for some!

Very cool idea! I'm off to get some soap!

Ivory didn't work for me either... They made VERY faint pastel marks on Dd's skin, but didn't leave any colour on the tub. The food colouring I used also leached into the bathwater, leaving a very lightly tinted gooey sliver of soap. Dd still had fun though...

What soap did those of you whose crayons "worked" use? Bronners?
