mucous or drool in 4.5 mo poop?

When I went on an elimination diet I discovered that 2 mo dd reacted to wheat (mucous in poop) and dairy (rash) and I've been avoiding both ever since. I re-introduced quite a few foods after that with no clear-cut reactions. Now she is 4.5 mo and for the last few weeks "mucousy" poops have been common - they also tend towards being olive-coloured rather than mustard-coloured. But she just cut a tooth and I'm starting to wonder if the "mucous" is actually excessive teething drool that she is swallowing? Possible? Common? How do I tell? Any help appreciated.

It wouldn't be from drool, but it *could* be from a cold w/ a runny or stuffy nose. If the poop isn't bothering her (my ds seems to get "burned" by his allergy poops.) then I wouldn't worry about it for now unless it dpesn't get better. It might be regular diarrhea.

If she is swallowing mucus it will appear in her stool. The question you have to ask though is WHY is she producing the mucus at all? IF she's sick that is one thing. BUT it can also take awhile for the exposure of the allergen to irritate the intestinal lining enough for it to start producing excess mucus as a defense mechanism. A couple weeks is a long time to be seeing mucusy dipes. I would probably take the original offenders out and see if that helped.

To clarify, dd has not had a cold. It's either mucus from her digestive tract or drool.
