October Declutter 500 items Challenge - Page 12

Decluttering your magazines?
I want your old issues of MOTHERING!

My awesome mom visited me this weekend with several back issues of Mothering that she had checked out from her library. (She raised 3 kids fairly conventionally, but she is so wonderfully supportive of all the AP approaches we want to take with our baby due in Dec.)

I had been thinking of subscribing to Mothering, but hadn't ever actually seen a copy--now I know what I've been missing! I read all I could, but now I want to share them with my husband when he returns from a trip. I will be subscribing, but...

...if you have back issues from the last couple of years and you're ready to part with them, I'll offer you $1 an issue plus shipping. (Hope that is a legal offer on this forum.) They need not be a complete set. PM me! Thanks!

I usually pass my issue on to someone. A lot of times someone is searching for a current issue. When I am done reading it, I pass it on.

But then again I do that with most mags anyhow.

So anyone want:

Cooks Illustraited the current issue?

OTH,
I bagged up all of Maggie's stuff that she has outgrown as well as a dozen baby toys or so- I mean how many does she need? I am passing the preemie stuff onto someone here but the other stuff is going to the first things first for babies at a local place.
Also, I seem to be washing the same 5 or so tees etc for dh. I told him to find some items for the cause.

I didn't keep an exact count for the last week or so, but I estimate I discarded another 50 items (magazines, worn out clothing, paperwork, library books, disgusting stuff from the refrigerator, etc.), bringing my new total to 100. I'm ready to plunge back in. I don't think I'll make 500 but I hope to at least get rid of 250 items!

I've posted all of my conventional cleaning supplies on Craigslist. If they're not sold by this weekend, I'm donating them to my local homeless shelter. That's about 25 items.

I packed up 5 FULL bags of clothes that are going to be donated this afternoon. Hooray for more stuff leaving the house!

Donated: 28 items
Tossed/Recycled: 12 items

I've been going through papers, papers, papers. I'm counting each heavy bag of papers as one item tossed. I still have boxes of books I'm trying to donate to the university library and boxes of maternity clothes that are way too big for me (hand-me-downs from my plus-sized sisters -- anyone interested?). I know I can make it easily to 300 items now, but my exhaustion is starting to get the better of my nesting instinct!

Running total: 212/500

Finally! I broke through my slump and----

-Fixed a wooden puzzle that was broken for 2 years! Counts as one because now it's not taking upi space in a drawer, it's be used and LOVED.
-2 books back to their owners
-2 dishes back to MIL
-2 pictures hung
-2 rolls of film developed
-1 pair of pants donated
-1 pair of socks donated
-1 set of duckie non-slip shower appliques donated

Brings me up to 34/500. Meager, but I am on a roll so watch out!

Haven't been keeping track too well the past few days but I did throw out old purse, an old pair of sandals, a torn beach mat, and recycled some magazines/workbooks. And a bunch of junk mail. So I'm going to consider all of that 5. 131/500 Little by Little.

old grapefruit spoons

Well, I'm finding this kind of late, but I would love to try it in November. Maybe I should just start now with a higher goal.

Dropped of 2 bags of baby stuff (incl breastfeeding books) to the first things first house. They were very grateful! I promised in a few months to come back with our bucket car seat that is in dh's truck. I think Maggie will be too big real soon.

20 more items trashed- mostly torn up kids books, stained or worn clothing that I'm pulling out as I do laundry, another couple of bags full of papers ... Plus I'm in a couple of swaps this month and have a bunch of stuff ready to pass on to someone who will use it. I think I am getting more ruthless so I need to keep going. New total ... 120 items

I am officially half way there. 251.

But I still havent gone thru ALL of MAggies outgrown clothing, plus I found some more things she dosent need any more from getting too big:
co sleeper ( ) bittersweet since she will soon be able to get out of it. Now she is either sleeping with us or in her crib.
a seat that she dosent fit into
a swing that has been used 3 times with two kids

I also shredded a huge pile and threw the shreddings out- how much would that count for??
