attention Harry Potter freaks...attention.... - Page 2

That thread scares me too, Finch! You're not alone.

I hate the movies. There. I said it. I love Harry Potter, but those movies, with their hack job scripts and multiple directors... shudder.

Are people afraid of posting in the Half Blood Prince thread?
Umm, yes, I am. I used to, but it feels liked a closed group to me, so I gave it up long ago...bummer, because I really am a Harry Freak, just not a fanfic freak.

I pop into that thread occasionally and comment on movie/book stuff. I generally stay out of the fanfic conversations (except when I wrote a little crackfic.)

You don't need to read all 704 pages. Just pop in, read the page we're on and jump right in, if it interests you. If not, read the page we're on and leave without posting.

Very fast.

Most of us are both.

I kinda avoid the big thread because I'm not into fanfic and that's pretty much all that's talked about for the most part unless it's right around the time a book or movie gets released. Just never liked fanfic..

I'm so sad that they all cut off their hair!!!! They all looked so good with it!!

I'm sad that they cut their hair, too, and the woman who plays umbrigde doesn't look scary enough-maybe she will act the part so well that she'll freak the heck out of us though.

I'm thinking I like the looks of Luna, though. She looks appropriately different, I think.

You'll get no flaming from me. I don't hate the movies but I am thoroughly disappointed, with GoF the most. I never thought I'd say I prefer Chris Columbus over any other director, but in retrospect, his treatment of SS(PS) and CoS were more faithful to the books, coherent and all around decent movies. I thought PoA was beautiful, superior to the previous two movies in appearance and also reasonably coherent. But they left Snape's hospital tirade out of the movie. Unforgivable.

GoF was fun but left out sooo much that they could have included. I know films makers aren't obligated to replicate the books on film. But they've really done the fans a disservice by leaving so many sub plots out.

Pictures: yay! I don't mind the boys' short hair. James and Oliver just get better looking all the time. Don't judge Imelda Staunton yet. Wait till she opens her mouth. She's an exceptional actor and I have no doubt she will ooze nastiness.

Ivana Lynch looks great!

Daniel Radcliffe might be getting the Elijah Wood thick neck... Oh dear!

She's also not girly enough. I mean she's feminine in a preppy way, but Umbridge is supposed to look like a frog trying to dress up as a girl: alice band, bows, frilly clothes

and, I'm sorry, I know there are a lot of twin lovers here, but the twins look AWFUL in that DA picture. Just old, and I dunno, awful. :

The question is, did tptb cut their hair, or did the actors themselves? I remember one of the movies--POA I think--that the director put them "on stage" in whatever they showed up to the studio in. Maybe this is a similar situation?

I love the office pic too. I agree Umbridge is supposed to look more toad like. love the haircuts too. July is so far away though! I am actually listening to this book again right now before bed. I think it's my favourite. Pheonix is so long. How on earth will they do justice to this book in the movie? Maybe They should do an extended version for DVD...

I almost wish they'd make it for TV and make it at least a 2 part mini-series, yk?

You people are nuts. Just nuts.
Change your settings to 200 posts per page and then it's a nice, manageable 70 pages.

I'm not intimidated by the HP thread. I'm just too lazy to weed through all the fanfic talk.

Yeah, all the books as miniseries would be nice, but they'd have to recast everybody. I don't think the current actors would go for that.

on long threads. I feel bad to doing fly-by posting on them!

So on to Umbridge. She is not what I pictured! You know who I thought would make the BESTEST Umbridge? Rhea Perlman, you remember- Carla from Cheers
